@wandeljw,
That's was WEEKS ago, jw. But, thank you. It was a nice day.

Don't you think that January seems to crawl along slower than any other 31 day month? I'm always thrilled when February comes around. It's blissfully short and the sun shines occasionally.

@JPB,
January is not slow enough! I always insist on a month-long observance of my birthday. Smile

Snowing again!!! Wish I had a camera. The view from my apartment window is roofs and ledges all white. There's also a tree across the street covered in white. I love the site of snow on anything. Could it be the Russian in my ancestry?

Was it me?
It was me wasn't it?
I knew it was!

How could I have been so blind as to not have seen it coming? In retrospect it was so obvious that the thought of me in a French maids outfit was gonna bring on an attack of the vapours, even to those possessed of a most robust disposition.

If only I had heeded my grand pappy's incorrigible advice to desist from licking a Phyllobates terribilis y'all would not have deserted to seek a safer sanctuary.

In my defence I submit that I originally hired the said exhibit hoping to entice Tai Chi, she apparently was too busy trying to get a college boy in the sack, JPB was doing her nails and dear Missy had an appointment to wash the dog. I was thereby forced by circumstance to transform from dirt farmer to what may be expediently described by an independent party, viz the cop called by my neighbor, as a sumo in a tutu!

I got a copy of the police mug shot...

http://i379.photobucket.com/albums/oo231/a2kforsure/Mug-Shot.gif

You don't see en point work like that nowadays; enjoy!

Emboldened by the experience I have ordered a naughty nurse outfit for this weekend - Are there any volunteers?

Sorry Alex, no offence, but it won't fit you.

MacT, I am glad the medical services have responded well to your circumstance, I hope you are restored to a rigorous constitution after the procedure.

Now if you will excuse me I must attend to matters poolside before the ice in my piña colada melts.

Have a good one.

Ps. Добрый день Roberta, kак поживаешь?
Pps. Happy un-birthday Wandeljw.

Ha! Given the mood I've been in lately I'd say sharpening my nails is more appropriate.

Lovely togs. I especially love the tiara.

Sending hugs all around. Can someone steer this ship to somewhere warm and tropical please?

Despite my family origins, no one in the family spoke Russian. I studied Russian briefly in the hope of being able to read some Russian writers in their original language. Gave up. I couldn't deal with a new alphabet. With all these shortcomings, I think the appropriate response, try, is, "Just peachy, thanks, and you?"

JPB sweetie, I may only be a hick from the sticks, but I would cajole you to heed the advice you have often given to others that they should turn any misfortune to their advantage. Use the time of your confinement to indulge yourself in ways Cleopatra would approve.

Roberta, oh how you tease me so. I am deliriously affable and desirous of zilch but world peace; failing that a ticket to the New York City Ballet; Afternoon of Faun with a little Claude Debussy Clair de Lune, and Prélude à l'Après-midi d'un Faune.

Man cannot live by bread alone, sometimes there is an itch only art can scratch. Luckily in the interim there is a hog roast down on the bayou (or should that be bijou) tonight.

Y'all are invited!

Ps. The temp in Guadeloupe is 82.4 f ...Turn larboard South by Southwest if you please Mr. Boson...

@Tryagain,
JPB the Bosun set course for that tropical island you're longing for and this is what I found after following tryagain directions, you like it? He may be a hick from the sticks but he certainly knows his way around!

Greetings, all

Plenty warm and tropical here - bloody lovely in fact.

Temp about 30 C - I think that's somewhere in the 80's for you northerners. Clear blue skies, just a zephyr of a wind, relatively low humidity.

C'mon down! Bring yer plastic didgeridus!

How amazing technology is - it's incredible what they can do these days. Very pleased for you - know it will make a big difference in your life Very Happy

Unfortunately, our Health and Welfare system does not work well with mental health and family issues; they're the people who don't give a crahp, are totally despicable and inept every day. I despise them all in that system.

((Hoping Boida, TC)) and our whited-out crew are coping with the snow - been thinking of you. Been so glad to hear for our Aussies that the waters are now receding - tho I'm very aware of the months and years the recovery will take. So terribly sad for everyone involved. ((Margo and BEAgle)) - glad you weren't affected - tho I'm sure you know people personally who were.

((JPB)) - spring will be springing soon. The evenings are becoming lighter - roll on the Spring. Thank you always Jaye.

Hi Izzie, I was informed your absence was due to your going off Pistes in the Swiss ski resort of Klosters, if true, this is exceedingly good news as I have a little log cabin in Grüsch which is not far away for a little Apres-ski! Bring your camera...and make it snappy.

So Tai Chi, how's it going with the college guy?

Now, is this rumor about Dutchy true? I know he has probably wrestled more gators than me and he has most certainly stuffed more jumbucks in his tuckerbag; but what has he done for me recently?

Anyway hearty congratulations mate a fantastic achievement; even if you say so yourself. Laughing

Wave to all and bows to Dutchy.

@Izzie,
Hello Sweet Friend,
I am so happy to see you. Smile

It's pretty here too...amazing 74 degree weather...makes me long for spring.
and summer - and fireflies - I love me some Owl City

And of course with the gorgeous weather - I have managed to strain a ligament in my right knee. No biggy - I hope. I keep hoping it is just a strain. If it doesn't start feeling better soon then I will have to get a MRI to see what actually is going on. But that would be why I haven't been here as much. I am trying to stay put with the leg up. Smile

Thoughts and prayers honey - you know they are always with you. ((Izzie))

Hugs to you all...missing you!

@Dutchy,
ahhhhhhhhhhhh

that's perfect, Dutchy, thanks! Can we drop anchor here for a bit?

I'm moving slowly today. I have a friend whose birthday is close to mine. We get together each year for a couples night out to celebrate our birthdays. Last night was our celebration night. We drove downtown for a nice dinner followed by drinks and music at a nearby club. We left there around 1:00am and instead of coming home like sane people would do we drove over to the Green Mill for some jazz. We left there shortly before 4:00am and got home around 4:30. I don't remember the last time I stayed out that late.

The Green Mill has a storied past and was a known mob hangout in the '20s.

Quote:
The Green Mill Jazz Club History

Throughout its uproarious history, The Green Mill Jazz Club has played host to a number of famous - and often infamous - celebrities. Opened in 1907 as Pop Morse's Roadhouse, the "Mill" was a stopping place for mourners to celebrate the passing of a friend before proceeding to St. Boniface's Cemetery. By 1910, new owners had converted the roadhouse into the Green Mill Gardens, complete with lantern-lit outdoor dancing and drinking areas, and boasting such headliners as Al Jolson, Eddie Cantor and Sophie Tucker. Actors Wallace Beery and Bronco Billy Anderson also visited the Gardens, hitching their horses to the outdoor post and settling down for a drink after a days work filming westerns at nearby Spoor and Anderson Studios.

As the twenties roared, The Green Mill became mobster territory when Al Capone's henchman, "Machinegun" Jack McGurn, gained a 25% ownership of the club. Manager Danny Cohen had given McGurn the 25% stake to "persuade" comedian/singer Joe E. Lewis from moving his act south to the New Rendezvous Café at Clark and Diversey. McGurn managed to convince Lewis by slitting his throat and cutting off his tongue. Miraculously, Lewis recovered, but his songs never regained their lush sound. The incident was later immortalized in the movie The Joker is Wild, with Frank Sinatra as Joe E. Lewis and a Hollywood soundstage as The Green Mill. Of course, his interest piqued, Sinatra had to visit the club.

Throughout the 1930s, '40s, and 50s, The Green Mill continued to pack 'em in with a heady mix of swing, dance and jazz music. Uptown crowds from the Aragon Ballroom or Uptown and Riviera Theaters would "stop in for one" before or after shows. Business began to slip in the mid-seventies, and in 1986, present owner Dave Jemilo bought The Green Mill and restored it to its prohibition-era, speakeasy décor.

Fun, fun, fun but I'm having a quiet day today.

Great to see the captain on board. Waves to (((mismi))) and the rest of the crew.

Although it is sometime since I studied ancient Greek I translated that to read: Three for sex!

This was seemingly confirmed by the following picture of two babes and a guy I presume to be Dutchy!!!

What do I gotta do to win a medal?

I would also like to point out that the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad was in fact named after Burlington, Iowa and Quincy, Illinois.
I am sorry for any missunderstanding.

Have a good week crew!
