* On the second day the knee was better and on the third day it had completely disappeared.
* The patient has been depressed ever since she began seeing me in 1983.

* Patient was released to outpatient department without dressing.
* I have suggested that he loosen his pants before standing, and then, when he stands with the help of his wife, they should fall to the floor.
* The patient is tearful and crying constantly. She also appears to be depressed.

One of my personal favourites occurred after I had warned medical staff that a woman was being discharged before her nursing home felt able to manage her medical needs, and she would "bounce".

She duly reappeared in the ER that night.

The doctor who admitted her wrote:

"Mrs X bounced from nursing home, as predicted by ******* (moi).

Well within warranty period. Re-admit."

Bob Newhart made this remark about gynecologists: "The funny thing about gynecologists is that they never remember a person's face."

The medical bloopers reminded me of a great story I heard from an orthopedic surgeon I know.

He and another male doctor were coming out of the doctor's lounge one day, joking around about a woman patient they had just seen who had enormous breasts. As they rounded a corner in the hospital hallway, the doctor held his hands up in front of him as if he had two cantaloupe-sized breasts. At that precise moment he looked up and saw a group of middle-aged women walking straight toward him, looking very angry at his gesture.

He had to think quickly. He looked down at his hands and said to his colleague, just as the women passed him, "Worst case of arthritis I ever saw...."

(What a great save!)

Not so much a "blooper," but I found this amusing. My sister is a pediatric surgeon, and they delivered a baby who was born without an a$$hole. So they had to surgically create a new a$$hole. Beyond the funny in that, the parents asked if it would look different. Maybe they were hoping their child had a bright future in porn?
