Some investors are willing to suffer a total loss of what they invest just to have the chance of enjoying high profits if the investment ends up being successful. Such investors are gamblers in this regard, but they will only gamble with money that they can afford to lose because they know that in gambling the odds of a total wipeout are usually greater than the odds of a profit. Any game that doesn't favor the house by better than 50% isn't allowed to be played.
