I think you're right, Roberta. But I can't tell you that for a fact.

There were similar scenes in Hair and Officer and a Gentlemen, and maybe Biloxi Blues, but I'd like someone to agree with me on those titles, as they're all blurring together for me.

Mac, I can agree with you on Hair. Don't know about Biloxi Blues and An Officer and Gentleman. I guess military movies make a show of people getting their hair cut off.

37. Waiting to Exhale - Loretta Devine's character runs a salon
38. Pleasantville - barber shop scenes

Don't you love the scene where she swings her big behind and walks away from Gregory Hines' character and says, "Oh God, I hope he's not looking."
Laughing Laughing Laughing
And he WAS looking. And he was digging it.

Loved that scene, eoe. Loved Gregory Hines in that movie. Smile

I'm pretty sure (with Google's help) that this is how it went, but correct me if I'm wrong:

In "Hair", we see Treat Williams' before and after his buddy cuts his hair. No barber or barbershop. And none of the other characters got a haircut.

In "An Officer and a Gentleman", we see the guys waiting in line to get their hair cut, but we don't see the barber cutting their hair. We just see the results.

In "Full Metal Jacket", there's a scene where we see the Marines get their heads shaved from start to finish.

I don't know about Biloxi Blues. I saw it, but I can't remember.

So at this time, I'll recap with "Full Metal Jacket" added:

B = Beauty Salon and Barber Shop scenes

Thanks for clearing that up, Raggedy. What number are we aiming for?

BTW, I loved that scene in Waiting to Exhale too.

About Hair, I remember they want to cut Woof's hair (the blond guy) in prison, but he refuses and that generates the title song in the film, but I do not think that was in some kind of prison barber shop either.

There is a very high density of hairdressing salons in Finland and Sweden, but it has not been reflected in film, for I cannot remember a single Finnish or Swedish film with barbershop scenes, isn't that odd?

Oh, but I just recalled a Polish film with hairdressers:
42. Trois Couleurs: Blanc (1994, Three Colours: White), the protagonist and his estranged wife are hairdressers

I was surprised we went beyond 70 with artists/painters. Let's see if we can get to 70 with beauty salons/barbershops. If we come to a standstill, I'll start the "C" subject.

Oooh, I just thought of one:

43. Roman Holiday - Audrey Heburn gets her hair cut by Italian barber

In Little Women, when Jo sells her hair to raise money, is there a scene in any of the movie versions in which we see her hair being cut off? In the book, she describes to her family how she went into a barbershop and had it done, but the scene isn't described directly, we only hear about it through Jo's telling of it.

I miss Gregory Hines and Raul Julia, too, mac ...

My daughter just told me that Peter Boyle died.

No barber shop scene in the Hepburn version, bree. (Unless it was edited for TV)

How about this...
In "The Eyes of Laura Mars", there were several scenes where the models were having their hair styled before the photo shoot. Does that count?

Sure it counts. A hairdresser styled their hair.

which for some strange reason made me think of:
