Is everybody else off by 12 hours, or have I slipped through a time warp? On my computer screen, the times of the last two posts are shown as 9:13 p.m. and 10:34 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10 (today). Here in the eastern time zone of the U.S., where I am, those times haven't happened yet.

Twins are rare, even in film, but I can come up with two titles that I know of, although I haven't seen them myself:
32. O dwóch takich, co ukradli ksiezyc (1962) feuturing the present twins in charge of Poland.
33. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978) with Robin and Maurice Gibb (from the Bee Gees)

(NB: no. 33 is a question mark, for I do not know whether the Gibb brothers actually play twins in in the film.)

I think we did pretty good with 33 "twins" movies.

I've been pondering "u". I don't want to use "UFOs". But all I can think of are "underwater" scenes or "undertaker's establishment - scenes that take place in a funeral home".

Any thoughts on this?

So underwater is too wide and undertaker too narrow. OK, suggestions for "U":
- Ultimatum (pretty narrow and hard to remember)
- Umpteenth (i.e. sequels, wide and varied)
- U-rope (Non-European films which have the focus of their action in Europe)
- Ungodly (Films featuring the devil, satan, or similar)
- United Nations (Films featuring the UN, quite difficult I can only think of a handful of titles)
- Urinal (or gents' restroom, not as rare as one might think)
- USSR (Non-Russian films which have part of their action inside the Eastern block)

Thanks for the great suggestions. Since we've already covered "devil" (ungodly) with "d", let's go with Uncle.

U = Uncle (kindly and otherwise)

I take it the uncle has to be a protagonist or the uncle of a protagonist, i.e. the uncle - niece/nephew relationship must be part of the central plot.

6. Fanny och Alexander (1982), farbror Gustav Adolf and farbror Carl
7. Mitt Liv som Hund (My Life as a Dog, 1985), Farbror Sandberg
8. Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004), Montgomery Montgomery
9. Tommy (1975), uncle Ernie
10. The First Wives Club (1996), uncle Carmine
11. It's a Wonderful Life (1946), uncle Billy
12. Richard III (1995), kills his nephews
13. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), Harry lives with uncle and aunt
14. Lord of the Rings (2002-2003), King Théoden is the uncle of Eomer and Eowyn
15. Star Wars (1977), young Skywalker lives with his uncle and aunt
16. Nicholas Nickleby (2002), uncle Ralph Nickleby
17. The Addams Family (1991), uncle Fester
18. Silver Bullet (1985), uncle Red
19. Populärmusik från Vittula (2004), farbror Einari
20. Bilitis (1977), sent to spend summer with aunt and uncle

23. Mon oncle (1958), Monsieur Hulot as oncle
24. Mon oncle Benjamin (1969), Jaques Brel as Benjamin (his best film after L'Emmerdeur).

I can't believe I did not remember these right away Jaques Tati and Jaques Brel are among my favourites. Likewise it was hard to imagine that in the suicide topic I did not think of Once were Warriors (the suicide of the girl really ruined my evening) or An Officer and a Gentleman (how doing the right thing can lead to a man's undoing). My memory is hopeless.
Uncles are a bit hard to come up with. They either function as eccentric family members from which a nephew/niece can learn the wisdom of life, or as menacing figures with which the nephew/niece is forced to interact due to the family tie. Outside of these roles uncles (and aunts) do not stand out and are hard to remember.
For example, did Tom Hank's character have a niece/nephew on his lap in Philadelphia? Were there any family members that were introduced as uncles in Antwone Fisher? I can't remember.

My favourite film uncle of all time remains the bombastic philandering bon vivant Gustav Adolf in Fanny & Alexander (the best ever performance of the late Jarl Kulle).
