You got it.

And when I told them how beautiful you are
They didn't believe me. They didn't believe me
Your lips, your eyes, your cheeks, your hair.
Are in a class beyond compare

I hadn't even thought about the local connection! You got them all.

I'm off to my piano lesson. See you tomorrow.

Mac, I took him up on his offer. I took his hand, but I don't think he was too pleased. He said he'd never feel the same way about Kismet again. All I did was offer him a cheeseburger in paradise. Then I tried to make amends by posting lovely lyrics from another Kismet song, but that went over like a lead balloon. ( I wish somebody would post there.)

I saw all that! I thoroughly enjoyed singing the Kismet songs (to myself of course).

Ok I'm heading over to that thread to contribute... Very Happy

I just checked out that thread you guys are talking about. I never knew about it before, and there are so many days when I'd have something to post there -- except that now, of course, the only thing that's going through my head is "Big Spender"!

Same songwriter for all five? I've got two songs, but they're by different songwriters.

Yikes! Forgive me, please. Katharine Hepburn does not belong there. Embarrassed I've been getting enough sleep. I haven't been drinking. And, I'm only doing three things at once. Is that a good enough excuse?

Strike Katharine Hepburn

1, 2, 3 and 5 are all the same songwriter.

I give up. I've got three Richard Rodgers songs, but the one with Peter O'Toole and Matt Dillon has me stumped. Here's what I've got:

Something to Hide (Peter Finch) + Mr. Wonderful (Matt Dillon)

A Patch of Blue (Shelley Winters) + Paper Moon (Ryan O'Neal)

You'll Never Get Rich (Fred Astaire) + I Walk Alone (Burt Lancaster)

I had thought of "Something Wonderful", but changed my mind. It never occurred to me that Finch and Dillon would fit that bill, too. Good for you. Very Happy

I was thinking of:

Peter Finch - Sunday, Bloody Sunday and Mat Dillon - There's Something About Mary

Peter O'Toole - My Favorite Year and Matt Dillon - Wild Things

Ah, how could I not have seen "Bloody Mary" or "My Favorite Things"? Good one.

Now to think of a new question.

There's an interesting article about Barbara Cook in today's New York Times Magazine, at

Alone, Again

I love the fact that, at the age of 77, she says she expects to be singing even better five years from now! I also love the fact that she's going to give a concert at the Metropolitan Opera next January -- the first nonoperatic performer to appear there since Vladimir Horowitz in 1986, according to the article.

Thanks for the link, Bree. Everything about that article is interesting. I think she's an amazing woman. I knew nothing about her personal life until now. I wish she would write an autobiography. And since, I only know her voice from Candide and Music Man, I'm going to check out some of her CDs.
