Nice try -- but I've never heard of any of those performers.

Oh, I just discoverd that another song from Pipe Dream became a hit, No. 20 on the Charts, "Everybody's Got a Home But Me", performed by Eddie Fisher. Never heard him do it. Pretty song though.

One more try, Bree. Buddy Greco also recorded "All At Once You Love Her".

Oh, here's one to think about while you're getting ready for your big party tonight:

Psychiatrist
Pianist
Fictional U.S. President (Part-time)
TV writer (Part-time)

Very Happy

Again, nice try, but I don't think it was Buddy Greco.

My "big party" -- that's a good one! Let's see, which video shall I watch tonight? How about "Holiday"? That's always a good one for New Year's Eve.

I'm thinking about your question. It would be funny if it's Ingrid Bergman (who was a psychiatrist in Spellbound and a pianist -- I think -- in Intermezzo), because I had been thinking of using her, and those two roles, for my next question. I'm not sure she ever played a U.S. President or a TV writer, though -- I'll have to check on that.

It's not Ingrid Bergman, but she was next in line. (lol)

Don't forget the U.S. Pres. and TV writer were part-time, for lack of a better way to word it.

My daughter brought a bottle of Korbel Extra-dry Champagne home with her. I have no idea whether its good stuff or not, but that doesn't bother me in the least. She asked if it would be OK to open it before Midnight as she might not be able to stay awake until then. I love her psychic ability. (lol) I had just turned my kitchen upside down looking for a cork screw, when she walked into the kitchen, opened the bottom kitchen drawer and lo and behold.....

"Holiday" sounds excellent. Very Happy

Ah, the famous bottom kitchen drawer, where lost objects go to hide!

I'll have to think about your question when I get back from the movies. The last three movies I've seen (Million Dollar Baby, Hotel Rwanda, and The Woodsman) have been so dark -- all good, but very dark -- that I'm thinking The Incredibles might make a nice change of pace.

I'm deciding about a movie this afternoon too. (I'm the last one left here on my floor!) Maybe Aviator, maybe Ocean's 12...

Well now, if you had asked me which one I'd go to see - but, you didn't.

ENJOY! and don't forget to come back and tell us about it.

Oh, please! Which would you choose?

I'm sure I'll see them both eventually. It's really a matter of hitting the right time for Aviator - as bree pointed out the other day.

The Aviator. I want to hear your opinions. Laughing But the last time I gave a recommendation, the show was a disaster.

Um, I don't remember that... maybe you shouldn't remind me? Laughing

I'm out of here, doing a little more work, then sneaking out!

Oh, nooo! I'm getting the same feeling as bree on that song! Is it just because it sounds so R&H or is it that I've truly heard it? And I know it wasn't Como or Greco...I'm more like the Jack Jones, Matt Munro types of the mid-late 60's...maybe even John Davidson? aarrh.

And bree, I'm with you--Holiday is the perfect video for the bringing in the new year!

Currently I'm watching all my Italian webcams since the New Year rings in so early there! And I'll try to figure out the question!

I'm thinking of Incredibles as well, although I'm hearing mumbles about Aviator...

First have to scan some photos for an e-gallery--got some curators looking at it for a show in August!! gulp! help!

Wish I could help you, Loislane. No artistic talent whatsoever - for that matter no talent, period. Oh, how I envy you talented people.

And now just a word about John Davidson. Two against one again. (lol) I did see him in person in Vegas and he did put on a really good show and I have liked him ever since - although, I must admit - not enough to buy one of his CDs. (lol) I've never heard anyone else sing, "All At Once You Love Her" except the singer in the B'Way show and Perry Como, which I loved, so I just can't imagine anyone else giving it a try. Now, if Bree would just take a little more time with those records. Laughing

Hey...I had quite the crush on John Davidson! He was da man on the show that Carol Burnett had after Gary Moore and before her own--with Caterina Valente and John Davidson...I thought he was fab.

In fact one of my favorite all time hilarious routines (and maybe the only one I remember) was a spoof of Soap Operas called Marvin Gardens! I can just remember Carol as the overwhelmed housewife taking secret switgs from a bottle and saying, "I know, I'll polish my pans!" and breaking out into the song, Another Morning in Marvin Gardens! Amazing stuff!

Caterina Valente - I know that name. I think she, too, had a hit record, but I can't remember the song.

I think I first saw John Davidson when he had a summer replacement show, but I don't remember when that was. I love Carol Burnett, but haven't really seen many of her shows. I can remember Garry Moore hosting some variety shows, but I really didn't watch much TV until -hmmm, maybe the late Sixties. Oh, I did always try to catch the Ed Sullivan shows and I Love Lucy, though and, of course, the Oscars. I guess I missed a lot of good stuff.

I did not realize Caterina Valente was on American TV. I had only seen her in European films. I named my first daughter Katrina (with my wife's agreement) partly because I had a crush on Caterina Valente.

Very Happy Katrina's a lovely name. But, what was that song that Caterina made so popular? I know I don't have a record of her and yet that name is so familiar.

Oh, yea totally! She did Dimme Quando, Quando Quando and I found a fansite of hers at
http://www.caterinavalente.de/International/international.html
here's a funny nonsynchronus sorta coincidental (what is that term again, bree??) thing--one of the LPs you'll see on the site is Songs I Sang on the Perry Como Show! She apparently made her inroads into the American audience there! See 6 degrees of anything!
Oh, and she also made The Breeze and I a big hit.

Thanks for the site, Loislane. The song I was trying to remember is there - Quando, Quando, Quando. It was a smash hit. I don't remember her recording of The Breeze and I. I went to Amazon so I could hear a sample, but all I could find was a CD in which she sings Kurt Weill songs (no samples).
