The hotel porter is able to identify the object that's clogging the toilet because he was a doctor in his home country. The reason he's working as a porter is that he's in the country where the movie takes place illegally.

Aaah Bree. I have a feeling this is a Pretty new one and Pretty Dirty at that, so I'll not guess at this one. I haven't seen a movie at a theater in three years.
Oh, Raggedy, your last post tells me that you know very well what movie this is, so if you want to guess even though you haven't seen it, please go ahead!
I'm about to leave the office, and I won't be back online for a few hours, so I'll leave a clue for everyone else to ponder while I'm gone, in case Raggedy doesn't come up with it.
This movie was released in 2003, and was nominated for one Academy Award (which it didn't win). The nomination was in a non-acting category (although, if I were voting, I would have nominated the lead actor for best actor, too).
I read about it, Bree. Let it stay until you return. Maybe someone here saw it.

Raggedy is right: it's Dirty Pretty Things, and the human heart clogging the toilet is what alerts the porter/doctor to the fact that an organ-snatching ring that preys on illegal immigrants is operating out of the hotel. The movie was nominated for an Oscar for best original screenplay.
