It was the word "cab" that did it, I'm sure. If you were playing a word association game and someone said "cab," "New York" would be a perfectly logical response!

I see that nobody has started a new round since I guessed the last movie on Friday, so I'll start one now.

Newbie

A teenager's parents go to the police station to bail him out after his arrest for marijuana possession. When they get there, they're told that their son is being released because, when the police tested the substance, it turned out to be oregano.

Raggedy got it: Calendar Girls. When I saw the movie, it took me a couple of seconds to figure out what they were talking about in that scene, because the British pronunciation of "oregano" is different from the American pronunciation (or from the pronunciation I'm used to, anyway): they put the accent on the third syllable, not the second.
