He was first taken to a homeless shelter. The shelter returned him to the hospital, because they had no room. The hospital drove him six miles and left him on the street.
oh my god.
how can someone do this to another person?
This makes me sick to my stomach
I'm not in the least shocked or surprised. I used to live near Thompkins Square in NYC before it was gentrified and it was a major dumping ground for hospitals, especially mental institutions. Usually around 4 AM a van would pull up to the park and three or four people would be pushed out, some still wearing hospitals bracelets and slippers. They would wander around and ask people where they were or pick around in the garbage bins. Within 30 minutes they were robbed of any pills they might have been given . Some stayed in the park for days, others were picked up a charity run by a nun the locals called "Big Sister". This was in the early 1980's when funding for hospitals was cut by the Reagan administration and has only gotten worse since then. It's just another shameful part of the American Health Care System.
I'm lost for f**kin words!
you and me both.
Im truly shocked at this.
