Rather a hasty statement, I meant to imply. I am trying to think of some native English words where a single letter 'e' is sounded like the 'y' in 'copy'. Only a few, like penis and Peter and create. I can think of plenty where 'e' is sounded like it is in the word 'egg' for example.
I know, of course, that, when reciting the alphabet, the
name of the letter 'e' is sounded 'ee', like the 'y' in 'copy'. But that is a different thing.
