Are there 6 Long Vowels?

I speak English as a native Language. Some German and Spanish, and minimal French. Anyway, I've come to realize that we have 5 Long Vowels: A, E, I, O, oo. (English oo, German U). Anyway, I realized a few days ago that there should be another long vowel something like a cross between the sounds A, O, and oo. But I can't seem to come up with a distinguishable sound. Does anyone know is there another language out there that employs this sound or know what the sound is? If so could you point me to the language and sound or explain how to make it?

That's the problem...
I can't even image in the sound, but...

There are at least 7 short vowels 5 of them are associated with longs.

a - A
e - E
i - I
o - O
u - oo

but then there are the two other short vowels:
The sound "a" makes in "mall."
And in German and in Spanish the "u" like sound. To make this sound you try to make the "e" sound and place it in your throat where you would a "u" as in "uh".

Anyway, since all the other shorts can be translated to longs. It seems like there should be at least 1 if not 2 more longs.

Let me get this right. You can't even imagine the sound, but you believe it exists? Or is it a hypothetical sound that nobody has heard?

That depends on where you live. In England, it is like the 'a' in 'hat', in some parts of America, it is like the 'a' in 'small'.

Yes....
I hate to be so pointed, but yes. I'm thinking out of the box. I believe there is one or two.

But Y doesn't represent a unique Vowel.
Y as in Copy. Is really just E. And "Y" as in Yes is actually a consonant.

No it isn't. It's "y".

Different Languages maybe?
I don't know if you're talking about English as upposed to American? But "Copy" in American is undoubtedly said: "Kah" "Pee". Same exact sound as "E".

Rather a hasty statement, I meant to imply. I am trying to think of some native English words where a single letter 'e' is sounded like the 'y' in 'copy'. Only a few, like penis and Peter and create. I can think of plenty where 'e' is sounded like it is in the word 'egg' for example.

I know, of course, that, when reciting the alphabet, the name of the letter 'e' is sounded 'ee', like the 'y' in 'copy'. But that is a different thing.

Huh? There is no such language as "American". Did you mean American English?

Did you mean opposed?
