I was cleaning out under the sink and I doubt very seriously that I am the only cause.. BUT.. I hit my head on a pipe and now it is reallllly loose.

So loose in fact that it is leaky around the connection.

I want to seal it.. caulk it.. ?

Edgar just posted a great page about how to patch the tub..

so maybe someone knows about how to seal the pipe?

I can take a photo if need be to help explain

Is it white plastic or metal, and is the hubby available....

Women and plumbing don't mix....

plumber's crack is not meant to be sexy.... Cool

You should post pix as it can depend on if it's metal or ABS. If it is leaking from a fitting or a crack. Threaded fitting or glue-type fitting or sink drain assembly.

as you can see.. this yucky brown stuff bubbled up around the joint.

( this is not a referance to my ..... crack.... Confused )

Those two pieces I feel, if I pulled hard enough the bottom would slide right off

Heh, I've designed many many many irrigation systems, brag, brag, though that was a while ago, pre computer design of them. Alas, I'm a fool with indoor plumbing, and will be paying attention here...

In the first photo, where they join? To me looks like it USED to screw right on to the pipe.
But as I said, they slide around now..

I do not think my big fat head caused all these issues.. No way.
This apt building is over 30 years old and has nothing but patch work done on it to make it pretty.
Frankly, if I want this leak sealed, I am better off doing it myself ( if that is a reasonable thought) then waiting for my sexy little gay man landlord to sully his fingernails with it...

Clean all external mess off all pipes
Put in drain plug
Firmly hand tighten all fittings
Fill up sink
Pull plug
Observe results and report

Wolfie, put a bucket under, wear gloves, and unscrew the joints.

There are urethane washers in there.

Open it and see if they are torn, or if you jus bumped them loose.

Even a girl can do this....

No more crack, crack kills...

DId this and found two issues.
( i am uploading a photograph of the seals inside of the pipes as I type)

1 problem-
pipe does not drain well.
I was able to just slide the pipe right off.
I tried twisting it back on and it feels very loose.

I did not load up any water into it because it does not drain well. Which leads me to problem two
It seems to be backed up.

I'm wiring a new BC Ferry called "Island Sky". Marine wiring is very different and in this case they actually charge the hull to minimize Marine Electrolysis & Galvanic Corrosion. So they kinda do mix electricity and water!

Pipie is my nickname for Mrs. Chumly.
