no... do they pay well? i'm interested. though i'm not quite a gladiator yet. maybe after a few weeks like this.
our physician is of the opinion that moderation in everything , including physicial exercise , is praiseworthy .
so we keep up our swimming and try to go at least for a short walk every day .
mrs h has developed arthritis in one knee and hip , and finds that the morning swim makes her more limber .
she does go for physiotherapy once or twice a month and i'm always amazed at all the young people visiting the therapist : knee injuries , twisted ankles , broken arms ... ... we'll stay with swimmimg !

Can you define "mild"--this isn't a much-used word in your vocabulary.

20 freakin' reps!!!!
Lovin' the new exercise nook. It's nooklicious!
From 3 reps to 20 2 weeks? Wow! Congrats!
(I hope you're not overdoing it.)
So exactly what's in this Joyce Vedral workout?
I guess Dag is going for "Conqueror of the End of the World".
I'm falling a little behind, but do not want to feel tired enough to skip a day.
Over the last 3 days:
-30 mins. bike ride
-3 k. run (good time)
-A little over 3 k. jog

The book I'm using.
Anyway, I did another 20 reps today. Today was abs and it was HARD. But, since I've been doing the situps every day, the situps part was actually the easiest. I also did the bike for maybe a minute. I don't have a lot of stamina on the bike yet and since I come home and am wearing clunky snowboots it's hard to keep pedaling (not a great excuse, I know).
The little boom box arrived and it fits into the new room verra nicely. I grabbed the first CD I could find and popped it in. It turned out to be a British Invasion CD and, among other things, it played
Georgy Girl.
Quote:Hey there, Georgy girl
Swingin' down the street so fancy-free
Nobody you meet could ever see the loneliness there - inside you
Hey there, Georgy girl
Why do all the boys just pass you by?
Could it be you just don't try or is it the clothes you wear?
You're always window shopping but never stopping to buy
So shed those dowdy feathers and fly - a little bit
Hey there, Georgy girl
There's another Georgy deep inside
Bring out all the love you hide and, oh, what a change there'd be
The world would see a new Georgy girl
Hey there, Georgy girl
Dreamin'; of the someone you could be
Life is a reality, you can't always run away
Don't be so scared of changing and rearranging yourself
It's time for jumping down from the shelf - a little bit
Hey there, Georgy girl
There's another Georgy deep inside
Bring out all the love you hide and, oh, what a change there'd be
The world would see a new Georgy girl
(Hey there, Georgy girl)
Wake up, Georgy girl
(Hey there, Georgy girl)
Come on, Georgy girl
(Hey there, Georgy girl)
Wake up, Georgy girl
Not overdoing it, at least I don't think I am (I felt the burn for the first time. Pretty neat). Just shedding the dowdy feathers and flying. A little bit.
Jes--
Good for you.
I didn't make time for exercise today. (The time was there had I done some rearranging) My muscles feel vaguely resentful.
one mile today.

I took a day off yesterday 'cause I've got some muscles that are telling me I've been overdoing it a bit, but today I did my lower body workout and a few minutes on the elliptical... I should have gone ahead with some gentle exercise yesterday, because it was just what the sore muscles needed--they feel much better now, after doing a little work...
Noddy, you are so right about the wisdom of the body--it knows what's good for it; it's just my brain that gets in the way and tells me to be lazy!
True that. So far I'm feeling good, only minor aches. I have never, ever done exercising this way before. I did the Vedral program before, but always overdid it. This time, even though it may sound like I'm overdoing it, apparently I'm not. I haven't had one of those screaming muscles days where you can't move. Helfino how I'm accomplishing that, I might add.
Resistance bands arrived yesterday. They are funky colors and a lot of fun to pull on. Very lightweight, too. I can see us taking them, the mat, the book and my little handweights whenever we travel. Only the weights are heavy (ha, that sentence looks odd). Everything else is very compact and light.
Tonight, I was invited out for dinner and drinks to celebrate a person from work hitting 1 year smoke free. I've decided to just go for one drink (and it'll probably just be OJ) and then go home, so that I can eat a good dinner where I can control portion and content. Yesterday's slow cooker bean soup was fab if I do say so myself; tonight we'll be having more of the same and I really do want it more than the restaurant (most people would think I'm nuts as it's Morton's Steak House, but I don't eat red meat so a steak house for me is pretty much the height of yuck).
Also, yesterday, ha, it's Girl Scout cookie season. And I refused Thin Mints! Who the hell replaced me when I wasn't looking?
You can do it, Noddy!
Today is complicated by medical appointments in the morning. I'm going to come home and Move with Purpose.
I can also drive up to Doctor's Row doing isometrics (sucking in my gut) all the way.
Way to go Award to everyone!
Fourth morning of yoga.
Still fighting off this upper raspatory
crappola.
Feeling better but not good.

Went.
(To the gym, George, to the gym.)
Might not have been the best idea but I've stayed consistent (MWF) since January 2nd.

Good for you. How do you feel?
Little sore after the Boot Camp yesterday....but it's only a-coming today. Boxing and Total Body back to back.... I am looking forward to the pain.

I figured out where 1000 miles would take me. From Central Park by the statue, going North, my turnaround point will be a couple of miles outside of Devereaux, Maine.

I start tomorrow rain or shine.

I like this idea. I'm off on a one-way run to Georgia via Rt. 1.
I got to North Attleboro, MA this afternoon.
I hope to be in Rhode Island by week's end.
It's a cool idea!

Eh. Bad, then a burst of energy, now mostly eh. A good night's sleep will help, I think.
Atta boy and atta girl awards for all!
Today's inspirational ditty is Jimmy Buffett's "Everybody's On the Run"
Quote:First time I ran was to the end of the block
But I didn't know then that it never would stop
Now I look around and what do I see
More and more people runnin' faster than me
These days
Everybody's on the run
These days
Everybody's on the run
Well I fell in love for the very first time
But I couldn't keep up with that girl of mine
Night after night on a mighty fast track
She ran like the wind and she never looked back
These days
Everybody's on the run
These days
Everybody's on the run
-- Spoken: ";Let's run";
These days
Everybody's on the run
These days
Everybody's on the run
Now I've been to England and I've been to France
I learned to love oysters and I know how to dance
Someday I'll die and come back again
As some little boy just-a runnin' to win
These days
Everybody's on the run
These days
Everybody's on the run
Look in the mirror and what do I see
The gypsy and fool that I always will be
These days
Everybody's on the run
These days
Everybody's on the run
These days
Everybody's on the run
These days
Everybody's on the run
20 reps again. Abs feel fine; the situps are getting easier. I'll be ready for 30 reps in a week or 2, I figure.
PS Went out to celebrate a coworker's 1 year smoke free. I had a glass of OJ and nothing else, even though I stayed for an hour. No weird greasy appetizers, no alcohol. Just OJ (and it wasn't even very good). Came home to my sweetie and a home cooked meal and that's better than any of that, any time.
