FINALLY, refused not to run this morning.

Not sick enough not to do it, so I dood it.

3.1 miles. Keep it easy. Average heart rate 141 and times in the low 12 mins a mile. (Not streaking by anyone.)

Ah. felt so good. The Park was jammed with people getting a Sunday run in before tomorrow's big snow. (Arrgh)

When I got to the gym, I jumped onto the machine row and did one set each on the Curls, triceps, Pulldowns, Shoulder lift and Shoulder Press.

Yay, I did my ab workout plus the elliptical today... I actually looked forward to doing it! Shocked That makes me feel kinda weird--when it comes to the urge to get some exercise, I'm generally more a follower of the "lie down and it will pass" school of thought. I dunno what's come over me!

Got the exercise nook all cleaned up and nice (RP vacuumed). Bike for 2 days straight now. Gonna try to do stationery bike when I get home from work, although today's workout might be snow shoveling when I get home.

Joe--

Good for you.

Cyphercat--

So your body also speaks with wisdom? Odd, isn't it, how a vocal body jolts the self image of a chaise lounge sloth?

Jes--

You're a Rational Woman constructing a Rational Shrine to fitness and personal betterment. Good for that supportive man with the vacuum, too.

Ever since the gym went back to normal hours I've been keeping to my schedule (MWF). Next weigh/ measure day is Friday, I'm looking forward to it!

The Guardian published a series of booklets last week describing various aspects of the British Army standard training sessions for new and potential recruits. I read them all and feel a lot fitter.

I joined an eight week weight loss challenge @ my gym. Lose more than 90 percent of the entrants do and you get a chance to win big. The first prize is $50,000.oo or a trip for two to somewhere exotic (probably the East Village ) .

The question is how much will I miss my ass?

Refinement for January --

Walk on even days, lift on odd days. It works better with my goofy eating plan.

Jan 7, Jan 1 -- shoulders, abs, back, chest (check)
Jan 14, Jan 8, Jan 2 -- treadmill 4.0 miles with varying elevation, 650 calories avg, 68 mins avg (check)
Jan 9, Jan 3 -- biceps, triceps, quads, hamstrings (check)
Jan 10, Jan 4 -- treadmill 4.0 miles with varying elevation, 630 calories avg, 67 mins avg (check)
Jan 11, Jan 5 -- calves, gluts, inner and outer thighs (ckeck)
Jan 12, Dec 31 -- treadmill 4.0 miles with varying elevation, 675 calories avg, 68 mins avg (check)

Rest day yesterday. I need to switch the workout order around this week to match the goofy eating.

we are at the municipal pool monday to friday shortly before 8 a.m. and usually swim for 45 minutes .
have been doing it for twenty years now and it's become just routine .
not only is it a great way to exercise , it's also an occasion for a bit of gossiping after the swim in the change room
our oldest member just turned 91 - a very fit dutchman . he told me recently that he has made a concession to "old age" : he sometimes has a little snooze after breakfast Laughing

George: You fell?

(mumbles to self about how this could be a big chance to catch him...)

Oh, no.

Be careful.

Running in winter conditions requires care. The best bet is to run where
it is down to bare pavement. Failing that, go for roughed-up snow or
snow covered with sand or other grit. Never run on a shallow layer of
smooth, undisturbed snow.

Which is exactly what I did. The smooth snow was covering ice. Whoops!

Somehow the fall turned into a hook slide. No idea how -- it all
went by kinda fast.

The only thing hurt was my dignity.

Dignity is overrated anyways.

This is my "kill myself" week
Monday: boxing (class)
Tuesday: boot camp (class)
Wednesday: boxing and total body workout (2 classes)
Thursday: we'll see if I can walk. If yes, some mild cardio
Friday: I'll be hurtingprobably even more than on Thursday, but eliptical and weights will make me feel better
Saturday: rowing, free weights, jumprope, sauna or steamroom
Sunday: it's gonna be 9F outside. I ain't getting out of the house.
