You guys are doing great! Fabulous stuff! Very motivating.

I've actually lost at least 25 pounds since the first of the year and my new job has me sitting on my hind end all day. No sodas, no snacks, only eat when hungry and only eat my own food -- oh and the whole can't get to the fridge and/or stove easily the last two weeks has probably gotten me up to 30 pounds gone.

Spa Ideas sound fabulous.
Could just hurt people and their weight loss would be astonishing.
Probably would have to take away any phones though for take out or peapod. Wink

Quinn--

You might check with your doctor about your effortless weight loss. This winter/spring I had pounds disappearing and found that Will Power was not responsible. I've got Crohn's Disease--and have had it for 30 years. I'd been blaming my gastric troubles on side effects of abdominal radiation therapy all this time.

How could our spa clients order in junk food if they don't know where they are?

thanks Noddy for the concern but I put on weight with the Norton's since it was both feet and basically letting myself go being all depressed about it. Blah.
Now, I'm determined. Twisted Evil
I've cut out anything with sugar, cut back my portions, eat lots of fruits and veggies, lots of water, etc.
I checked - 27 pounds since the 1st of the year...woohoo! Since it's May - I don't think it's all that abnormal.

Anyway - I have a friend with Crohns. She also has Scluraderma too - I'm sure that's spelled wrong. It's very debilitating to her. Are you doing alright now - weight loss under control? Everything else going okay with it?

Interesting idea you have - they wouldn't know where they are and we could bind them up so they couldn't get to the food or work really hard for it! Wink

Another drizzly day here in New York. I took one look at the radar which shows real rain for this afternoon, got my shoes and headed out. Didn't really mean to but ended up running along the river and really enjoying the foggy misty morning. I mean I meant to get out, do about five and come home, but somehow I did another eleven point two miles. The course out is mostly downhill which means the course home is mostly uphill. Very proud to say that my uphill average time was only one second slower than my downhill time.

I ended April with 116.2 miles which is about 100 miles more than I did in January.
Total for the year is now 269.3. I had a 30 mile week this week. All's well.

Oh, and I worked out at the gym four times this week.

Will try to get walking in today, then helfino about the weekend as we're having company, plus it's looking cold and icky. Will do weights and resistance bands but not necessarily any more until company has departed. Hoping restaurant eating this weekend does not screw with the weight thang too much.

My error. You're losing at a steady, reasonable pace. Do your feet feel better?

Looks like everyone has done pretty well this week......at least those who have posted have all shown great effort, I'm sure there are a few who have been slacking off and of course don't want to post that. Laughing

Anyway my weekly marathon training update. This week in bold. I'm well ahead of schedule for the Chicago Marathon on 10/12. Today was my long run of 12 miles and most of it was in some light (and some not so light) rain. This was my first run in some inclement weather, I think I did pretty well. I've actually been searching for some rain to run in so I can get that experience in case it rains during the marathon.

My mile splits on my 12 mile jog today.
12:09; 11:46; 11:28; 11:26; 11:19; 11:36; 10:37; 10:39; 10:35; 9:45; 9:06; 8:36

Week 1 = 15.01mi, 163 min, Goal = 15mi
Week 2 = 17.22mi, 194 min, Goal of 16mi
Week 3 = 5.12mi, 57 min, Goal of 18mi (got sick)
Week 4 = 17.99mi, 217 min, Goal of 19mi
Week 5 = 21.27mi, 220 min, Goal of 21mi
Week 6 = 22.15mi, 231 min, Goal of 22mi

Week 7 = 24.75mi, 254 min, Goal of 24mi
Week 8 = Goal of 26mi

Dancing continues. Three hours of class a week, and practice in between. Did an hour today, after some walking and grocery shopping.
The dogs'll get another sashay this afternoon - after they wake up from their post lunch stupor.

Not particularly losing weight (some, but not my main interest), but my ass is FIRM. Bellydancing's great for firm abs/butt/thighs.

we get a little earlier to the pool now - so we get a solid 45 minutes of swimming and exercising (also exercising our jaw-muscles  jabbering away ) .
spent about 30 minutes pulling "mini-trees" out of the hedge - that should count for something .

did you see my comments on your schedule?

30 miles this week. Looking forward to a twenty two or three next week.
It's amazing the difference a few extra miles does to you.

Take it nice and easy, everyone, nice and steady, but nice and easy.

Congratulations to the runners.

Belly dancing is more comprehensible to my languid talents than running.

I did something today that I hardly ever do.

I went back up to the park I run through to walk through it.

It was full of neighbors. Walking, gawking at flowers, just sitting or having a go at rockclimbing. These two were serious. With serious rubbery shoes and lots of chalk on the hands. Oh and pads on the pavement below just in case.

Whereas these two were serious in a different way as they sat on my favorite bench.

Three miles of running, two miles of climbing stairs and schmoozing around.

I did see them, thank you. When I look at my training program there is only 1 20 mile run.

I appreciate your feedback about not going to 26 miles too. The book I bought 2 weeks ago did say the same thing. I will not be running to 26 miles in training.

I really don't like the idea of going back to week 1 on 6/15 though. It seems like it would be a huge step back. Of course, you're the expert here, I don't have any idea what I'm doing.

When I plot out how much time I have until the marathon, it's a lot more than 9 weeks.

The first plan below is the original. The middle plan below is what I had come up with prior to your comments. The last plan is what I'm gathering your suggestion is when I told you I had 9 extra weeks.

So, with all of this new information. Do you still suggest your strategy?

Thank you for all your help also Joe, very useful.

Also, my running/training has been motiving those around me to start running also. 2 people I know have expressed interest in doing a few half marathons even. The possible downside is that they'd like me to run the half's with them, which I would love to do, but I need to make sure it doesn't interfere with my full marathon training.

The first half marathon I've been asked to run with someone is on 9/14 in Chicago. My milage at this point will be well beyond 13.1 miles so I don't see any problem there, and a 'practice race' is what Joe had suggested, but the full marathon is only 4 weeks later, not sure if that will be a problem.

The 2nd half marathon is in Seattle on 11/30, which is 7 weeks after the Chicago marathon. Does anyone see any problems there? What if I ran a full marathon on that day instead of a half?

Good goin' maporsche. I have no advice but looks like you're making serious headway and approaching this in a good way.

Ran again today -- definitely felt zoomier! More propulsion, muscles getting comfy with their roles. Went through the two miles without any problems. (On running lap # 4 the same thigh muscle started to twinge at me again -- I thought about it and realized I was tired and probably landing too heavily with each stride, so I tightened things up and made sure my foot was rolling through instead of flopping and the thigh muscle was fine after that.)

We're going to try to go three times this week, see how that goes. I'll gym at some point in there too.

I think running a half on 9/14 is a good idea. Just don't get carried away.
From your perspective it's a training run with a lot of company. Being in
a race environment can get your blood up, so you'll have to consciously
hold yourself back. For the first few miles you'll be running faster than
you think -- and possibly faster than you should.

As for the 11/30 half, I dunno. You may still be recovering. Joe could
give you better advice on that.

Week 18 (What, already?)

14.8 miles (weenie!)

Scheduled cumulative mileage: 360
Actual cumulative mileage: 370.6

It was 70 here in scenic Chelmsford. I got out for a 4-miler and had no
back pain. Yowza.
