Now, now don't make me go callin' Social Services on ya.
Zoomier here, too, although my definition of it is definitely different from yours, soz. .95 mile in 15 minutes yesterday. As in, walking 3.8 MPH. Beats the hell outta my usual 2.5 or so clip. Went a lot slower when we walked a second time but no pain or stiffness today. Looks to be a beautiful day; I'll go out later though I might just sit 'n read.
My weekly marathon training update.
This week in bold. I'm well ahead of schedule for the Chicago Marathon on 10/12. Today was my long run of 13 miles. It did not feel very good, not because of the running, but because I biked into work yesterday which was a 44 mile round trip. My legs were sore (and my rear too). From now on my cross training will not be that intensive.
My mile splits on my 13 mile run today.
11:39, 11:50, 11:38, 11:24, 11:27, 11:36, 10:42, 10:52, 10:55, 10:52, 11:01, 10:30, 10:23
Week 1 = 15.01mi, 163 min, Goal of 15mi
Week 2 = 17.22mi, 194 min, Goal of 16mi
Week 3 = 5.12mi, 57 min, Goal of 18mi (got sick)
Week 4 = 17.99mi, 217 min, Goal of 19mi
Week 5 = 21.27mi, 220 min, Goal of 21mi
Week 6 = 22.15mi, 231 min, Goal of 22mi
Week 7 = 24.75mi, 254 min, Goal of 24mi
Week 8 = 27.17mi, 283 min, Goal of 26mi
Week 9 = Goal of 28mi
Looks good to me, maporsche.
Went on Wednesday -- didn't I post that here? Didn't seem to. It's been getting a bit easier each time but on Wednesday it was super windy/ gusty and the last leg was incredibly hard as we went against the wind. (Then the wind would stop suddenly and you'd tumble forwards.) Finished the usual 2.25 miles though (walk 5 laps, run 4).
Planned to go again yesterday but kid was sick. (Strep.) Start again Monday. I'm doing some stuff around the house -- pushups et al.

Second that.
Overtraining is the enemy.
Having said that, you're doing great!
Doing good, maporsche.
I've been doing okay but need to step it up again. The same # of minutes is less effective because I weigh less. I'll slow down my weight loss if I don't watch it. Gonna definitely go out walking today.
Knock on wood. My new meds--bright blue capsules--seem to be working. My innards are much calmer. I have enough energy to do a bit more than simply endure.
My weight is down to 97 pounds on my bathroom scales--which probably translates to 99 pounds on electronic scales. I should definitely gain three or four pounds and these pounds might as well be in muscle as in fat.
I'm going to start exercising again, slowly, slowly, and see what I can make happen.
Excellent. You can do it!
Go Noddy.
Carefully, of course.
We ran today... we were both TIRED and whupped and grumpy (in a companionable way) when we arrived, and reassured each other that even just walking is doing something, right? Then after we walked the first lap we thought we'd try running just one... that went fine. Then another. Perked up a bit. Ended up doing the whole usual workout (5 walks, 4 runs) which neither of us thought we'd be capable of at the beginning, so that was cool.

I have this same problem Soz....especially with the milage I'm running now. I never "want" to run anymore, my body is tired, it hurts, etc, but I have so far been able to convince myself of running at least 1 mile to say I did something. By the time that mile is over I feel good enough to keep on going.
Hopefully my body will not pick up on the trick my mind is playing on it.
Passed 50 lbs. lost, officially recorded this morning.
WHOO HOOOOOO!!!! You rock! Yay Jes!
Jespah, you are an inspiration!

did you see my comments on your schedule?
I did see them, thank you. When I look at my training program there is only 1 20 mile run.
I appreciate your feedback about not going to 26 miles too. The book I bought 2 weeks ago did say the same thing. I will not be running to 26 miles in training.
I really don't
like the idea of going back to week 1 on 6/15 though. It seems like it would be a huge step back. Of course, you're the expert here, I don't have any idea what I'm doing.
When I plot out how much time I have until the marathon, it's a lot more than 9 weeks.
The first plan below is the original. The middle plan below is what I had come up with prior to your comments. The last plan is what I'm gathering your suggestion is when I told you I had 9 extra weeks.
So, with all of this new information. Do you still suggest your strategy?
Thank you for all your help also Joe, very useful.
Happened to see this tonight. (You guys add too many pages too fast)
Yes. Option Three is the way to go, you'll have build up a lot of endurance by mid-June. You can spend the summer weeks doing intervals (to build up speed and lungs) and tuning your running style, take good mental notes about how your mind is working as you do 16-17-18 mile trots. I'm sure your marathon book is saying something about 1) hydration with sportsdrinks and 2) using Energy Gel packs. Both very good ideas and both needing some practice to get right on the very long runs.

Jes--
Wonderful milestone! Congratulations.
Did your parents notice their dwindling daughter?
Wow, Jes!!
maporsche, good point, I think I'll use the mind trick again if needed (and hope it will work). I'm amazed at your discipline though. It's really helped me to have a running partner and imagine her standing there looking around and glancing at her watch, if I'm having a hard time getting my butt out the door.

Yes, they did. My Dad said half his daughter was missing. My Mom said you could see it in my face and my, heh, decreased width.
Still got a long way to go. Thank you all for being so very kind and supportive. It means a lot to me.
Jes, you must be feeling great!
And so you should.
Well done!
