Soz--

Yesterday is gone....tomorrow has great potential for a Woman of Determination.

JPB--

Sometimes plateaus have very attractive scenery. How much weight have you lost since December?

Not a bad day to run. My quads are still complaining about skiing, but I
managed four or so today. That puts me in New Haven on the virtual run
to Georgia.

I flipped Yale the bird as I ran by.

I enjoyed Loon, but I can't compare it because I've never skied any of
those you mentioned.

Back in the day:
Ragged, Waterville Valley, Tenney, Cranmore, King Ridge, Gunstock,
and Wildcat in NH
Pleasant Mt in Maine
Owl's Head in Quebec

I'm down 16 lbs.

It isn't a plateau in the usual sense (working at it but no longer losing). Life has interrupted the effort. This too shall pass.

I'm home for the next three weeks. I should be able to make another successful push before I'm back on the road. My travel schedule in April through mid-May is packed. I need to gain whatever ground I can now and then hope to maintain through my trips (excluding New Orleans - no chance of maintaining there).

I s'pect I'm gonna plateau this week. I don't weigh in until Monday, I just have a feeling (and I'm not letting everything go to hell in order to have a self-fulfilling prophecy).

But things are looser, definitely. My tops are getting long.

In my vocabulary book, not working at it and not gaining is a plateau.
Your empty fat cells started squabbling about which ones would get filled up first--and in the metabolic confusion, they all lost out.

the Cyst in my Wrist changes shapes and pains daily. It went from a big swollen area that hurt just like a pulled tendon to a small concentrated lump (i think that was actually a gland dealing with the inflammation within) that hurt more and now there's nothing save for teeny tiny leftover swelling and the cyst itself, i presume (not readily visible or tangible, it's tiny, the little ones hurt the most though), but i woke up to my wrist hurting and it's, at times, as if someone was hammering a nail into it. gah. will see a doctor on monday, hoping they can get rid of it then and there.

Good luck, Dags!

In another health note, I'm finally over whatever-the-hell-is-going-around.
That sumbitch stayed with me for two weeks. What a beast.

Did two and a half with a nice steep hill thrown in. Felt pretty good.

Snow in the forecast. I'm really not in the mood for it.

February breakdown:

68.9 k
(16% over the required pace to meet the 2008 goal)

81.8 points

50 points speed
25 points stamina
6.8 points distance

(The highest score would be 60 for speed & 60 por stamina, distance gives 0.1 per kilometer completed)

Year breakdown:

128.8 K.
(only 5% over the required yearly pace)

Gymmed!

Thanks guys, you really made me do it. I so didn't want to, but the thought of yet again reporting that I didn't when I said I would was too dispiriting.

And of course, once I did it, I enjoyed it. Definitely lost a step since I was there last but wasn't nearly as bad as I worried it would be (loss of stamina or whatever).

I don't think I have SAD in any clinical way but I really drag this time of year. The irony is that the less I exercise the more I drag, so I hope to put together a few weeks of consistency exercise-wise, then go to Florida (visiting family), then come back to near-spring and be a little more alive in general.

87.4 miles for February.

I'm quite happy with that, considering the influences of sickness and weather.

Looking good for speed.
How are you measuring stamina?

Kind of Fantasy rotisserie style.

For each distance: 10 points for best time ever since I re-started running, 9 points for 2nd best... and so on.
"Speed" measures times on distances up to 2K.
"Stamina" measures times on distances over 3 K.

Like on February, I had 10 points on 200 meters dash, 9 for 300 mt, 8 for 400 mt, 10 for 500 mt, 7 for 1K, 6 for 2K, 6 for 3K, 5.5 for 4K, 2 for 5K, 5 for 6K and 5.5 for 7K.

As you see, on very short distances I'm doing pretty good; as the distance is longer, I fall behind my own marks.

I do have my Polar heart-beat measuring watch, but it's a drag. I simply trust my prudence.

30 mins of walking and 20 mins on the resistance bands. No weights today (for the first time in over month) 'cause the walking was to my dentist. I am on pain meds and will be for a few days, possibly as long as 2 weeks. This is all because I got an implant today. It's the stem part for a new tooth, which will come (a crown, how regal) in 3 or 4 months. So, more low key for the next few days so that I don't inadvertently hurt myself, plus I don't want to (eewww) start up the bleeding again.

On the bright side: my diet is mainly liquidy as it's not fun to chew (tomorrow should be better). Oh and my pants are falling down. Embarrassed

Soz--

Good for you.

Fbaezer--

I approve of your actions from an untechnical and uncomprehending point of view.

Jes--

I skipped most of my exercises on Thursday and I just only had my teeth cleaned.

Bright sun, blue sky and ice.

Oy. Vey. Ouchihuahua.

Skied on Sunday River today - 8 peaks, 131 trails. I partnered up with my bus neighbor who also came up alone. that was possibly a mistake, as he skied down alll the slopes of this world it seems. We specialized on black trails, diamonds, and double diamonds today. Mind you, I didn't relly ski (except for kiddie slopes with my nephew) for the last 3-4 years.
And had new skis that I'm not used to (much shorter and lighter, which also means much wobblier). And there were about 2 feet of fresh powder. Moguls top to bottom. First hour I must have fallen (complete with flips in the air, diving in head-first, skis strewn throughout the slope) five times. It's amazing i only pulled one little thing in a shoulder. Then I slowed down and negotiated the moguls a little more carefully. The sadist that I partnered up with gave me 10 minutes for lunch.... great workout though. I can still barely walk.
