The rest (majority) of the world, including all of the Western democracies, are as retarded as New Jersey. Only they were retarded for years now.

And what exactly is your point?
Many of the countries on this list ARE democracies.
Are you suggesting that they shouldnt be?

And, what is your point?

Democracy index

Liberty and justice for some

From Economist.com

Almost half of the world's countries can be considered democracies, but only 28 qualify as "full democracies"

Define "full democracy" for me.

Since your reply to Dagmarka seemed to suggest that you knew about democracies, I didn't think I would have to enlighten you. Seems I was wrong.

These are full democracies:

Sweden
Iceland
Netherlands
Norway
Denmark
Finland
Luxembourg
Australia
Canada
Switzerland
Ireland
New Zealand
Germany
Austria
Malta
Spain
US
Czech Republic
Portugal
Belgium
Japan
Greece
UK
France
Mauritius
Costa Rica
Slovenia
Uruguay

Part of that list is wrong, if not all of it.

In a "full democracy" the people would vote on EVERY issue and the majority would rule.

The US is NOT a "full democracy", nor is it an actual democracy.
It is a "representative republic".
We elect people to represent us and our issues in Congress, and they vote on most issues, supposedely doing what we want them to.

In the presidential elections, the people dont actually vote for the President, the electoral college does.
If the people did, then the only vote that would matter is the popular vote.

So, any govt that has any type of parliamentary body, be it a congress, house of commons or house of lords, or any other national legislative body, cannot be considered a "full democracy".

Does a "full democracy" mean a country filled with democratic people? Would this be due to their governement functioning like a gasoline station, and the government was told, "Fill 'er up!"?

If you felt you knew the answer.... why did you ask the question??

Perhaps you confuse full democracy with direct democracy.

Just another reason not to move anywhere near there.

Although your choice of address wasn't the reason New Jersey abolished the death penalty, it's certainly a welcome fringe benefit for us residents. I couldn't agree more that you should stay out of New Jersey.

I read an article which suggested that when the shakeout comes noth-eastern states will be seeking to join the EU and you can't do that without proper liberal judicial systems.

The writer claimed he had evidence that enlightened Americans were moving east just in case. The north-eastern states are as near to Europe as they are to the outer regions and there's only the flyovers in between.

It's a while ago mind you. It makes sense strategically I think. Assuming you have your eye on the ball rather than on how much you can rant righteously in the short time available to you.

Are we seeing the forest for the trees? How long ago was New York named "New" York, New Jersey names "New" Jersey, and New England names "New" England? Was something like this melding thought of three hundred years ago? Or, would we just be going back to an earlier mindset?

Couldn't we just merge with Britain, and leave it at that?

Would the author rather that The Federal Government (which includes George W.) have greater control over the states. I think not.

If it counts for anything, you don't have to pump your own gas in New joisey!!!

So NJ is like Oregon in that they won't LET you pump your own gas?

Retarded. With gas prices what they are now, you can bet those gas attendants are filling a tank on the side while fueling you up.

Unreal. This is what happens when you elect brain dead politicians. HSUS on the F&G Council? Why not put PETA in charge of the grocery meat counters while at it? Retarded!!!!

Animal "Rights" Activists Back at it in Trenton! A1202, sponsored by Assemblyman Chiappone would stack the Fish & Game Council with five individuals recommended to the Governor by acknowledged anti-fishing and anti-hunting organizations: The New Jersey Animal Rights Alliance, The Bear Education and Resource Group, and the Humane Society of the United States. The five anti-fishing and anti-hunting nominees would be based upon their, "experience in environmental protection or other fields relevant to animal welfare and with a background in the preservation of wildlife." A1202 is just one more attempt by animal "rights" extremists to destroy our outdoor heritage. Please contact your Assembly member today and respectfully urge him or her to oppose this legislation. Your Assembly member can be found by visiting http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/districts/municipalities.asp.
