The more I read about Ron Paul, the more I come to the conclusion that he is a complete nut. He is getting the support of the white supremacist crowd; what more can you say?

Of course. He has been active in Texas for many years and has never made real sense.

Socialism and unlimited immigration sounds great in soccer mom principle, but absolutely destroys a nation in practice.

Your statement is confused at least twice over.

1) You confuse the connection between socialism and immigration. If there is any at all, it runs in opposite direction opposed to the one you think it does. Back in the days of the iron curtain, the communist countries' immigration policies were on the whole more hostile than America's, not less. Even if you turn to democratic, more moderately Socialist countries such as Sweden, you will find that they were historically somewhat less open to immigrants than America was. So if America were to choke off her stream of immigrants, that might make her more socialistic, but certainly not less.

2) America had a policy of almost completely open immigration from its founding to about 1920. ("Almost", because in the 1860s, a racist majority in Congress passed the Chinese Exclusion Act reducing immigration from China.) On the historical evidence, then, open immigration did not absolutely destroy America in practice. On the contrary, it may well have made it the powerhouse that it is today.

I will be voting for Ron Paul, he is the only intelligent and sane candidate for the Republicans.

Although he wont win, He needs to be heard.

I dismissed him intially thinking he was insignificant and probably the same as the rest.

Then I saw him on Real Time with Maher.

Since then I have checked out his stuff.........he is too good be to be true, but then thats why he is silenced and dismissed.

Check him out and listen

I will not support a candidate that doesn't support a compassionate immigration policy that includes a path to citizenship for people who are living, working and raising families here.

Ralph Wiggum might not meet your criteria here, since his policy is "stranger danger!" But if you like Ron Paul, Ralph Wiggum might be your candidate.
I might vote for Wiggum....really.

Oh, here's one reason that suddenly comes to mind: the many Ron Paul zealots who spam online communities across the internet with their bumper sticker slogans. I am a fairly devoted libertarian, but libertarian spam pîsses me off as much as penis enlargment spam or get-rich-quick spam. Additionally, libertarian spam embarrasses me. It forces a stupid, defensive grin onto my face and makes me want to say: "Really, we libertarians aren't all like that. We're actually quite civilized. Indeed some of my best friends ...."

Nothing wrong with being libertarian. But, not all libertarians are equal.

I like Edwards too, which is why I will be happy to support him in the general election should he win the nomination..

I have been thinking about how much I would enjoy an Obama/Edwards ticket.
