Well, a small part of this happened to me :
Italian in Malta
Love it, Francis. I heard that one from the perspective of an Italian woman staying at an upscale hotel in America.
The same routine, but as she was leaving in a huff, the concierge said, " Well, peace on you, madam." To which she replied, " Well, peace on you, too, and I hope you drown in it."
I had a hard time, Letty, telling friends that I was going to the beach.
They were not used to such foul language from my part.
Why are you talking about "bitch", they asked.
This thread deserves touting on the radio thread, Francis. So many good ones that often get carried down the tubes. Your "Proverbs" is an example.
Next time you have a problem, just scoop up a handful of sand and say, "This kind of bitch comprehende"?
