The reason why it is important to add the next part about the political success not keeping up with the success of the military surge is because we are not going to keep up the pace of the current force and once it is gone or reduced; the violence might very well continue or just stay like this (which is still high levels of violence just not like 2006 after the Shiite mosque bombing) with the Iraqi government in shambles. There are very real differences in the Kurds, Sunni, and the Shiites with all of them wanting what they want for their own particular sects and not what is good for the whole of Iraq.

Having said that; it is good that the violence is down though. I didn't think it would be.
