Maths is difficult for me. " or " Maths is difficult to me. " ?

I was taught 'to', but I believe it should be 'for'. Am I right?

Many thanks.

I agree with Joe.

Maths is difficult to me... I don't know why anyone would tell you that's correct.

In Singapore, our teachers tend to follow what was taught by their teachers without questioning them. That's the reason.

The word "maths" is plural. How can the sentence possibly be correct if the subject is plural and the verb is singular?

Maths is the short form for mathematics in BrE, while 'math' is the short form in AmE.

Roberta, I've never to my knowledge disagreed with you before. Embarrassed

I believe mathematics, like kinetics etc, to be a singular noun. In practice.

There's a first time for everything, McTag. I'm unfamiliar with the usage of maths. Hey, I'm an American. We say "math." Shoulda kept my mouth shut.

Well, you can study physics. A fine discipline. Is statistics not the same?

Debatable. You could argue for both:

"The statistics show that......" same as "the figures...." is plural, yes.

Depends what you mean in this case.
