There is a little crime there.

Is the above sentence correct? If not, could you please rephrase it for me?

Maybe yes, maybe no.

The sentence is correct if you're saying it's not completely crime-free there.

If you mean to imply, however, that the level of crime is low, as opposed to a high level, you'd say "There's little crime there." (no "a")

Whether it's correct or not depends on what you're trying to say. It's what we keep telling you: CONTEXT, CONTEXT, CONTEXT. CONTEXT IS ALL.
