@Izzie,

Thanks, Izzie. Vivienne's probably going to have a follow-up abdominal draining (post massive hernia operation stuff) in January. She doesn't want to deal with it in December. Her birthday is coming up next week, too.
As far as the resume I sent in for the Inventory Control Clerk job, it's been only a couple of days (haven't heard yet), but I always worry. The problem probably is going to be my age (I'm 57) and the fact that my inventory experience of nearly 12 years is now 15 years ago (1981-1993). So, it really was a shot in the dark, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I'm not sure if you know my history, but I retired at 55 back in April 2006 (worked for same company for 32 years). Decided to work part time a while ago, and went back to full time late last July. This was because my wife and I helped out our oldest daughter in helping her buy an apartment and a used car. So, needing to replace some money in the bank.
As it is now, I'll probably remain working full time until 65, I think. Right now, I'm working in the $5 version of a dollar store. Take it from me, working retail sucks! That's why I'm looking for something better.

Edgar, I hope your wife's surgery goes well. I can imagine that the recup time will take quite a while, but will be worth it in the end. there's nothing more demoralizing than dealing with pain all the time. It makes one's outlook on life not so good.
When my wife had the big abdominal operation back in Sep 2007, I quit my casual job to look after her. I'm glad I did, because it made things a lot easier for her. Unfortunately, she's still dealing with this fluid build-up thing, which is a pain for her, but manageable.
