Aaaargh! I just wanted to post on another thread, and upon pressing the "Reply" button (I think... not "Preview".... not, it was "Reply") the site freaked out on me... still have it over there in the other browser window. Starts with

Code:object(Exception)#26 (6) { ["message:protected"]=> string(32) "MDB2 Error: constraint violation" ["string:...........

andsoon. I was replying to a post.... last thing I did was adding some color to the post, then hit "Reply".

@edgarblythe,
Hey Edgar. Just dropping by for a few minutes to say 'hello'.

I think I'm slowly catching on how to use this new version of A2K, albeit it isn't as user-friendly as the old one. I'm sure in a couple of weeks it will all seem old hat.

Man it sure is hot (for me) here right now. Hotsy totsy roasting time. You still holding out okay? I got my first pay cheque from my new job today.

@Reyn,
Hi, reyn. I am not as happy with the new site as I was with the old. I hope it gets better. So far, none of my threads has any action, but for a few friends such as you.

My job is in a decent routine. I got my second check today. My very first Social Security payment is due this coming Wednesday. Then we will begin to get a sense of how the finances will be. I'm seeing a loosening of my hold on authority there, as the guy that took my place is relied on more and more. That's as it should be, and makes my life a bit more relaxed.

@edgarblythe,
Hey, that's good to hear about the job! I agree, you will be able to relax more and let the young whippersnapper take the reins.

I know what you mean about your pension money rolling in and seeing how the finances are. I was really worried for the first while, but more relaxed than when it first started.

My return to work full time, at this point, was precipitated earlier than planned though. My wife and I are helping the older daughter getting started with the buying of an apartment, which she moves into the end of this month.

We put out a bit of money which will take me about a year to replace into our savings. Then, I should start to see our account grow again.

I know what you mean, re: the new version of A2K. It's going to take some time to feel as comfortable getting around as I did with the old site. I feel a bit like a fish out of water, but I'm catching on a little more every day.

I'm going to try with my H.I. stuff again, but I'm not expecting too much. I'm sure they will disappear from sight pretty quick with this voting nonsense. I'm particularly unhappy about that setup.

Well, I will wish you a goodnight. Don't let that nasty heat wear you donwn, eh? Wink

@Reyn,
I spent most of Sunday repairing my mother in law's air conditioner, and part of today. It should have been easier, but I was unfamiliar with her system. Now I understand it, enough to know it is okay, for a bit longer. Since it was made in 1987, it would have been nice to be able to replace it. Oh well.

Some of my friends have not been in contact with me on the new site, yet. I think that is why I feel ill at ease here.

Hi Edgar. I'm still here. I know how you feel though. I really feel like a fish out of water. I don't have a lot of time available to be on the site, so I'm scrambling to educate myself on how it all works. I think I am making some progress, but in the meantime, I noticed this morning that there were two changes to the 'My Preferences' section (see my new topic on it).

I make a point of checking this thread every time I'm on the site, so maybe we can commiserate together on this change.

What is really needed for this new version of A2K, is a proper tutorial primer for us guys, huh?

By the way, funny cartoon! Laughing

@Reyn,
I find myself looking around a lot, but posting a lot less. Well, it leaves more time for my writing, which should have been the case all along.

@edgarblythe,
Yeah, I hear ya. I'm a little leary of starting my own Topics. I'm not sure what to expect with this voting nonsense. I know some are saying that they use it to clean up their own view, but I'm also sure just as many are voting down because of other reasons.

So, in my opinion, there's possibly not a lot of incentive to start your own topics. I'll see. Probably put a few of my H.I. ones out as a feeler.

G'night bud! Lovely weather here, it's raining! Very Happy

Wow, it's been an incredibly busy last 2 days - my days off, I might add.

My oldest daughter is getting ready to move out of an apartment and out of an abusive relationship with a crappy boyfriend of 7 1/2 years. This will happen on Aug 30th.

My wife and I have been busy behind the scenes helping out.

We have helped with buying her own apartment and a used car. My wife's father, who lives in England, is getting ready to move back to Canada and will be moving into one of the two bedrooms in the apartment and paying rent to her, to help out. It's a win-win situation for both of them.

It takes a lot of stress off our minds knowing that she will have "backup" with her mortgage, as we have limited resources.

Either way, my wife and I are looking towards September. This is one of the reasons I have been somewhat quiet. All this "stuff" has been cooking in the background to deal with.

So, what's happening with Edgar?

@Reyn,
We have been getting hit with downpours all week. The only bright spot, my 11 yr old grandson is with us. He will be heading back to Denver, so I will tell him good bye as I leave for the job. Sunday, I will have to meet with one of the owners of the apartments. He has taken to flying in from California at about 2 month intervals.

@edgarblythe,
Hey, good evening, fella!

Wow, big change in the weather here. A lot of rain here lately. Gone are the really hot days, for sure. I don't mind it though.

Hey, thanks for checking out my new thread today. I'm trying out a new format.

Bye for now.....

@Reyn,
August is generally our worst month, heat-wise, but this year it's not so bad. I am really benefitting from working half days.
