I just got back from a 4 hour wait in an emergency room with my neighbor's son who fell off a trampoline and broke his wrist. We live in a rural area and there were not enough people on the ER staff to help all the people sitting around holding bloody fingers or comforting coughing babies. It took my nieghbor 30 minutes for her insurance company to even approve the visit, and she' still afraid they will find a way not to pay.
Here's some more news for those not living in the bubble of denial.
From today's New York Times
