Stubbornness never quits me.

Could somebody tell me the meaning of the above sentence?

This person is characteristrically stubborn, a personality trait that he/she cannot/will not control.

It's not what we would say, however.

I would say, "I am always stubborn" or something like that. You would use "quit" like this:

Boy, she never quits complaining.

I agree, but the sentence sounded like it was written by a writer who was making an attempt to sound sophisticated.
