I'm looking for the top ten News Stories of the Summer so far - my teenage son and I have a bet - about who knows. Truth is with all I've been through this summer so far - most news has passed me by - so I'm asking for your assistance in coming up with a list that says -
"Well yer Old dad does know what's happening in the world!!"
Thanks in Advance!
Here's a couple of recent ones:
Blackout back east
Deadly heat wave in Europe (if you're including world news)
California recall election.
OK, that's three...
Those 3 plus:
A British scientist who said there were no WMD in Iraq was found dead, scandal ensued in Britain.
Snipers, car bombs and other nuisances have affected the American presence in Iraq
Bob Hope & John Schlesinger died.
Snipers, machetes and other nuisances created havoc in Liberia, the president-warlord was forced to resign
Kobe Bryant got into a legal mess.
JLo and Ben Affleck broke their relationship (I think)
husker is back!
World news counts!! Thanks! Yep I'm back!
1.Blackout back east
2. Deadly heat wave in Europe (I must be asleep)
3. California recall election (masses of nuts try for position)
4. A British scientist who said there were no WMD in Iraq was found dead, scandal ensued in Britain(and lots of other stuff in Iraq)
5. Ben Affleck cheated on JLo (he must be crazy)
6. Kobe Bryant got into a legal mess. (Playa Ball soon to open- filmed 4 months earlier)
7. Snipers, car bombs and other nuisances have affected the American presence in Iraq - along with oil-lines getting blown-up
8. Bob Hope & John Schlesinger died.
9.
Snipers, machetes and other nuisances created havoc in Liberia, the president-warlord was forced to resign.
Don't forget poor violence-ridden Liberia!
Also - Katherine Hepburn and Gregory Peck died.
Italian PM outrages European Parliament (by saying a German critic of his policies "would be perfectly suited for the movie role of a concentration camp officer"). Ensuing European diplomatic row turns pathetic when Italian minister then disses German tourists and German Chancellor in retaliation vows not to holiday in Italy this year. Typical summer news story ;-).
