The pakis will be under the pump I think. India has a very very good one day side and played extremly well against Aust.
I differ slightly on India's goodness. They are good, but not very good.
Paki have lost their voice, and they didn't put any thinking into the game last time. It was heck of a boring match.
Spidergal..
are you in India?
Wow, where's the Day 2 report?
Pakistan won the 2nd ODI, and I am very happy about it. This was a T20 final repeat, but this time out Pakis took the cake.
The Mohali pitch is believed to the pacer's paradise. It was dry and there was a grassy patch in the middle, so there was going to be bounce. However, India, who won the toss and decided to bat first, never seemed to be in trouble. Akhtar and Asif did walk away with a few wickets, but they never posed any real threat.
Sachin missed his 42nd century by one run. Darn.
India finished 321/9.
Pakistan had a smashing start but slowed down in the middle overs. At a time they were 4 down, needed about 200 runs and they were just 20 overs to go. Now, everybody was busy commenting on what's wrong with Pakistani cricket when Butt walked into the ground. His fifty, combined with some quick bashing by Afridi, grabbed India's win away.
Nice match, that.
I think I can watch the rest of the matches. Looks like there's going to be a contest of sorts.
Aus 551/4 |
Sri 107/4 (38.5 ov)
MS Atapattu* 34(118),
LPC Silva 18(19).
Macgill and Johnston bowling.
Two Mcgill opportunities have been put down gilchrist dropped a regulation chance behind the stumps and clarke could not hang on diving one handed to his left.
Dropped catches lose matches.
Aust 551
Sri Lanka 211 all out
Aust forced the follow on.
Current SL 53/1
ST Jayasuriya 35
MG Vandort 0
Last wicket
MS Atapattu c wicketkeeperGilchrist b Symonds 16
Atapattu chases a short delivery angling down leg stump only to get a touch of glove on it, and Gilchrist pulls off a good diving take down the stumps! Symonds loves that wicket and the change of bowling works for Australia once again.
*reading along*
Thanks for the updates!
Kris Srikkanth and my dad are more than happy. Their deepest wish has come true.
BCCI, in a hasty attempt to resolve the captaincy crisis following Tendulkar's refusal, have passed on the hat to Kumble. They had several options beside Kumble: Dhoni, Laxman, and Ganguly. Not going for Ganguly and Laxman is understandable, but they must have had a hard time choosing between Dhoni and Kumble. I think their pseudo-logic behind leaving out Dhoni was that they didn't want to burden the ODI captain with additional responsibility at this point. But there was also a trace of indecision ?- Kumble's captaincy lasts for the Pakistan series only. They aren't confident he is capable of being the main man for next year's Oz tour.
I have gone all around the blogosphere making mockery of BCCI's decision, since you know, it isn't the wisest of decisions, but out of respect for Kumble (and it's just occurred to me that it's quite early to be making judgements), I am not getting into it here. After all, he's always been underrated and never got enough of the camera focus, not even as much as he deserved. So how much do we really know about his leading capabilities? Yes, yes, players with leadership potential begin to demonstrate the skill quite early on, but there are always exceptions. Kumble has the experience. He knows his cricket. He's a good chap. I think our IMHO's can wait.
Day 4 session 1.
Australia 551/4d
Sri Lanka 211 & 129/2 (40.5 ov)
You'd think the Aussie have it in the bag with a day and a half to go.
Rain delay
Stuart Mcgill took his 200th wicket
MacGill to Vandort, OUT, ripper! Pitches well outside off stump and spins back a mile as Vandort gets a stride forward and tries to defend, a hint of drift does it for him as he plays down the wrong line and looks back to see his off stump pegged back! What a delivery to get your 200th Test wicket, take a bow, Stuart MacGill
MG Vandort b MacGill 82 (249m 170b 10x4 0x6) SR: 48.23
Johnson to Samaraweera, OUT, sharp catch at gully! Johnson bowls short and wide, Samaraweera gets up and slaps that hard, just failing to keep it down, and Hussey intercepts a stinger, low and flying hard at him but he just stays low and cups it near his knees! That was firmly struck by Samaraweera but Hussey was too good, and Australia have a double-strike to swing the momentum back their way
TT Samaraweera c Hussey b Johnson 20 (87m 65b 2x4 0x6) SR: 30.76
double breakthrough for Australia
Australia 551/4d
Sri Lanka 211 & 215/5 (75.3 ov)
Sri Lanka trail by 125 runs with 5 wickets remaining
Green Park. 3rd ODI.
India won the toss. Have elected to bat first. When I am writing this, they have lost 3 wickets. Sachin, Gambhir, and I guess, Ganguly. Yuvraj and Dhoni in the middle.
Will now go and watch the match and come back to report after the innings.
Dadpad,
Australia looks good. I am glad for Lee, too.
Anybody any analysis on SA-NZ? I heard Bond injured himself again. Sad, that.
I'd forgotten that Lee is a big star/sex symbol in India. Hes not seen that way (except for his cricket) in OZ.
Bloody weather at the 'Gabba is driving me mad!
On and off for rain / bad light....and only a couple more wickets needed!
This one's all over.
Australia won by an innings and 40 runs.
Man of the Match: Brett Lee! 4 wickets in each innings.
Australia only lost 4 wickets the whole match.
On to Hobart!
Will Attapattu play? After calling the Sri Lankan selectors Muppets lead by a Joker - his position must be a tad shaky.
But he at least scored some runs.
India win 3rd ODI. Lead series 3-1.
The most boring Indo-Pak series ever.
i love cricket
