Help! Chinese to English:an artistic term

Anyone know there's a technique literature and painting called 异质 ,I really need to know the English term for it. Would anybody help me? Thank you very much. ( Probably the word means a way of contrasting using a different substance) Embarrassed Shocked Sad

um, that came out as a nonsense string of letters and numerals. Was it a Chinese character originally, maybe? More context please.

You may have different character sets enabled in your browser than most people, which produces gibberish for people who don't have those characters enabled. Give us an example of the technique's use in Chinese art/writing. Give us some more context of what it does. You may be looking for something like "visual metaphor". Or not.
