Why did you NOT include the statement "directed towards a centralized Govt"?

I think that with the escalating application of executive privilege by Bush, Cheney and their successive attorney-generals, its not the Democrats you should fear most re centralised government. I mean, you have a President here who has decided he can pretty much change any part of any law passed by the democratically elected Congress by adding a signing statement...

Are you that naive that based upon her statements, that she does NOT have a socialist agenda?

Global government? Do I think that Hillary, or any Democrat, is out to establish a global government? Urr no. Thats Nutville City there.

Dont tell me you really believe Hillary wants to impose a global UN government.. do you believe the government has been secretly planning a North American Union by any chance as well?

As for socialist, Hillary? You dont know what socialist is. Hillary's health care program doesnt even go as far as the current system in Canada or the UK -- and post-Thatcher, post-Blair, England is about as far removed from "socialism" as most any country in the West.

Back to the topic in question: isn't it kind of funny that the entire Republican platform revolves around fear?

Fear of Terrorism.

Fear of Gays.

Fear of Government.

Fear of, most of all, HILLARY.

They say 'vote for us, or bad things will happen.' That's it. That was Bush's message in 2004 and it is the Republican candidate's message now.

The uneducated and ill-informed have stated exactly what you are saying.

The objective, honest people see it very differently.

How do the 'objective, honest' people see it? Please be specific, and also work in an explanation - from an objective, honest viewpoint - as to why Hillary's name came up 40+ times in the last Republican debate, and OBL's, zero.

It's just something a candidate is going to do once the main opponent is defined. At some point you have to speak to the swing voter who could vote Dem or Repub. Yes we are out here.

Howard Dean mentioned Rush Limbaugh in several speeches he made while he was running, at least these guys are referring to someone who is actually running against them.

While I am frightened of a communist bitch being elected President (she wouldn't get a single salute from a soldier if he/she weren't coerced), I'm no pussy. If Hitlary gets elected, her reign will be miserable for her. People don't like smoke and mirror liars. You all say you hate Bush. He's the only guy with enough balls right now to stand up for your lazy asses. Perhaps not the most well spoken, but his intentions are on your side.

This post makes absolutely no sense. When did H. Clinton become a communist?

Are you sure that there wouldn't be at least one soldier saluting her? Oh, maybe you mean because most of your military is currently in Iraq.

I doubt that the next line is true.

Of course people like smoke and mirror liars. They voted for George Bush twice.

Are you saying that the only soldiers you have are marines? Gee, I really did not know that. Thanks for enlightening me and thousands of your countrymen.

Look who shows up... no suprise.... Rush's phony solidier...

Did you watch the photo ops from 1992-1999 where every Marine avoided eye contact with Slick? They refused to salute him after what happened in Somalia, etc., with no retaliation. But you wouldn't notice...

Truth is not digression. It suports the argument.

Then you had better define the argument since you have travelled so far from it that you will need a hum v to bring you back.

I cant believe this "Hillary is a communist / socialist / stooge for a One World Government" stuff is even taken seriously by anyone. It just seems like hysteria to me. The kind of outright hysteria that I guess only a Clinton could drive hardcore conservatives to.

Some may see this as an argument to avoid a Clinton run - look how polarising she is. I usually nod at that argument. But in the face of conservatives losing it so blatantly at the mere sight of her, I'm actually reconsidering. I mean, remember the last time that Republican partisans were foaming at the mouth at a Clinton who, if we were to believe them, was evil personified. He was easily reelected, winning an additional 6% of the vote, and increasing his lead over the Republican challenger from 6 to 9 points.

Perhaps bringing the worst in wingnuttery out in the Republican core might not be the worst electoral strategy for the Dems. Let them defeat themselves. Might work.

But how many normal conservatives DO take it seriously, wonder?

Ok, I accept that many Americans think socialism is being taxed, and have no idea what the definition is, but do you think anyone except wingnuts takes such nonsense seriously?

I'd be interested in hearing from more balanced people...neither rusted on Hilary supporters, nor right wing nuts.

You should try to post more threads with "Chicago" and "Detroit" in the title then. The true left of America will show up. Just a suggestion.

Dunno. I always brace myself for many more doing so than you'd want to expect.. But then again the 1996 elections perhaps showed that Americans, too, will just be turned off if the wingnut pitch becomes too shrill..

The truth on Marines saluting Clinton..
http://www.snopes.com/politics/clintons/salute.asp
http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/m/marinerespect.htm
http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/weekly/aa031901a.htm

Quote:
The crew of HM-1 (the "Marine One" helicopter) is an elite group selected for their professionalism as well as their expertise. The implication that they intentionally and publicly violated protocol due to personal feelings against the Chief Executive is an insult to their honor. Staff Sgt. Keith Milks of the Marine Corps public affairs office told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the crew dutifully followed the same protocol with Bill Clinton that they follow with all presidents.

Go ahead and attack some more "phony soldiers" cjsha by telling us what "real soldiers" do.
