If you face problems, call me.
If you have problems, call me.

I believe both sentences are correct? Am I correct?

Many thanks.

"Face" has at least two senses; as aboveit's similar to "have", or "experience" as averb.

It can also mean somehint like "confront and act", as in ""Face problems; don't ignore them and hope they'll go away", i.e. "recognize them and do something about them".

But nobody I know would use "face" in that way...

You would say, "I've got to face the music" or

"Face your problems head on" etc

But you would NOT use it in the context of the example you gave.

You would use "have" for that.

You could, alternatively, say, "IF you encounter problems..."

Oh, you Canadians, you're just so PROPER. Americans would say it. We'll say anything.

As everybody knows, "people I know" is the undeniable grammar and usage authority...

Yes, yes, you two... you use "face" as in your examples, but NOT in the one above!

We do, we do! (or at least we would, if we ever had occasion to say it).

(watch your back, contrex, we're coming for you--I'd add a smiley here except I haven't figured out how to get the damned things from their little grid over on the left into the post-it box).
