What is that word which describes any title or position, in general, which holds no power, but is merely for show?
Here's one:
e·mer·i·tus
Retired but retaining an honorary title corresponding to that held immediately before retirement: a professor emeritus.
One who is retired but retains an honorary title corresponding to that held immediately before retirement.
They all seem pretty close, but I dont get that Aha! moment when you know for sure that's the one you were thinking of. I think it's a pretty arcane word. Either that or I have it mixed up with some other word. Oh, and I spotted the error in the thread title
Sinecure doesn't really fit....
