"In memory of my father, John Doe."
Is the comma needed after 'father'?

Many thanks.

Geez, here we go again with the commas. This was included in the link sent to you somewhere, Yoong. You could google this as easily as anyone else.

2. Separate a "renamer" (an appositive) from the rest of the sentence with a comma.

In memory of my father, John Doe
In memory of the appositive, John Doe

Thanks, Mame.

I just wanted to make sure. I know that one is required, but my friend does not trust me just because I'm not a native speaker. He wants it in black and white.

Best wishes.

Maybe you should get your friend to do his own homework!

Maybe you should get your friend to do his own homework! And you could show him the link (print it off) from any grammar site.
