Lord, a good grammarian could tell you what the subtle difference is.
I am NOT good at grammar.....I think the distinction would be that "I'm remembering" implies more that the rememberer is actively accessing their memories as they are speaking, while "I remember" suggests more finality, that the memory has been accessed.
But don't quote me!
Doubtless a better grammarian than I will happen along, and correct me.
