The Gem and the Magnet, if I'm remembering/remember rightly, started about 1905.

Could "I'm remembering ... " be used?

Thanks.

Thanks, Dlowan

Could you please let me know whether there is a difference in meaning between the two sentences?

Thanks.

Lord, a good grammarian could tell you what the subtle difference is.

I am NOT good at grammar.....I think the distinction would be that "I'm remembering" implies more that the rememberer is actively accessing their memories as they are speaking, while "I remember" suggests more finality, that the memory has been accessed.

But don't quote me!

Doubtless a better grammarian than I will happen along, and correct me.

both options are acceptable and no difference in meaning at all.

I have a personal preference for "If I remember correctly.

This is just a footnote about the term "if I remember correctly".
It has become such a common term that the abbreviation "IIRC" is fairly common in forums and newsgroups, and the poster can take it for granted that the meaning will be understood.
