I want three other papers.
I want a few other papers.

My friend asked me whether the above sentences are in order.

Honestly, I don't know what he means by 'papers'. Is it 'newspapers'?
If so, can he say the above?

If by 'papers' he means 'sheets of paper', then I believe it should use 'sheets of paper'. By the way, can I say 'pieces of paper'?

Many thanks

Its all about context yoong.

When and where the word gets used determines your interpretation.

If i say to my wife in the morning "i'm going to get THE papers" this would usually be interpreted as newspapers.

At the Office: I'm going to get some paper would mean sheets of paper (probably) There are some papers on my desk could you get them for me please.

If i am at the office creating a collage "paper" could mean pieces of paper.

If i am at university "Papers" could mean reports.
I wrote a paper on insect activity in eucalypt plantations

Context includes all the surrounding activity not just the location. ie what were you just talking about where are you what would your most reasonable expectation of the word usage at the time.

In what order would you like them? do you mean correct by "in order"
" is everthing ready?"
"Yes all is in order"

Do you mean in numerical order?
single = one only
a couple = 2
A few = undefined but more than 2 (3, 4, 5) but not limited to that.

You are quite correct. We should all be as clear as possible with our choice of words.

You may say pieces of paper where you are refering to randomly torn up paper or if the paper you refer to has no other clear unambiguouse description. like sheets, newspaper,
