could you please give me a definition to this expression "people on the paroll"

people that are being paid for their work - that get a paycheck

but ne more Q, for example those ppl working for a company, are they normal employees or they are paid just for a specific work they may do ????

A payroll is a list of people, part time and full time, salaried and paid-by-the-hour who are paid by the company.

Special consultants may be brought in for a special job. They will be temporarily on the company payroll.

(Another example of "roll" as "a list of people" is when the "roll is called" at a school or at a military unit. Each name is read out and the owner of the name answers "here" or "present".
