TORN OFF TOE NAIL.

Welcome back, bigbird. I'm glad the toenail worked out okay.

I have a weird big toenail story.

I shed my little toe nails every few months.
They peel right off. All the way down to the quick.And I am lucky it never hurts.

I have smashed my big toenail and some fingernails to the point where they fell off in a few days too.
I feel your pain, and I am glad to hear it healed so well

Initially,the nail was ripped off right down to the cuticle.There is not a word to describe the pain!It was raw and bleeding I went to A & E at my local hospital.They advised me to keep the skin at the base open by putting a piece of foil under the skin.Did not like their treatment because they were not treating it very sterile,so I treated myself.
I cleaned it daily with neat Savlon antiseptic and applied an antiseptic cream called 'Betadine'.This cream is a bactericidal,Sporicidal,Fungacidal and Virucidal and was recommended by a pharmacist.I did this daily and used only sterile dressings daily. I also put an extra piece of gauze dressing on top to protect my toe from my shoe rubbing it.I continued this for about 3 weeks until it closed up and healed.Several months later I NOW HAVE A LOVELY NEW NAIL.
If you ever have to use the 'Betadine',when using it,it leaves a yellow staining on the toe,don't be alarmed about this because the cream is an iodine based ointment.The staining goes by itself.
