Where is the manager?", asked the angry customer.

Is a comma required after the quotation marks? I don't think so.

Thanks.

No, the comma is not only not necessary, but it's wrong in this situation. The question mark is enough. However, if the quoted statement were not a question, a comma would be necessary.

"I wonder where the manager is," muttered the angry customer.

Note: I believe that British English and American English have different rules for placement of punctuation and quotation marks. So the answer might be different coming from someone else.

I should have asked you what are you trying to learn?
It appears that you want to learn sentence structure.

Hi TTH

I want to learn everything that I don't know about English - grammar. word usage, etc.

Unfortunately, there is nothing on how to write a good summary. Otherwise, I would be eager to learn.

Best wishes.

Yoong, you seem to be asking the same questions over and over. You have been given a link to the usages of commas yet you are still asking about commas. You seem like a bright person, so I wonder if you have read it. If so, you would be able to answer many of your own questions.

Just my opinion.

Hi Mame

Sometimes, native speakers who are my friends tell me that my sentences are punctuated correctly when I checked with them. But when I am doubtful, I will check with the experts from this forum, rather than be misled by them. That's the disadvantage of being a non-native speaker.

I hope you will understand and bear with me.

I also want to let you know that I value the guidance of the forum members, including you, who have helped me a lot.

Cheers.
