They have moved into a flat that we helped them to paint and decorate.

I don't think them is required. Am I correct?

Depends on where you want the focus. I see nothing wrong with including "them." It's not redundant. Also, I'd delete the "to." It's not needed.

Yep, what Roberta said, but also...

maybe you helped someone else paint and decorate the flat, so "them" indicates who you helped. Or whom, I should say.

And the "to" is not necessary, agreeing again with Roberta.

Since the sentence is about ". . . a flat" that the speaker's group ". . . helped to paint and decorate," then the word 'them' is unnecessary.

As for the preposition 'to,' it may be omitted from the sentence, but it would be best to retain it as it would help to clarify any ambiguity that may arise in the sentence if it were to be left out.

They have moved into a flat that we helped to paint and decorate.
