Is sentence correct?

Halfway through the journey, the bus jerked. The bus driver announced that there had been a power failure and that we had to wait for about half an hour before power was restored.

Is the above sentence correct? Can a power failure happen in an air-conditioned bus?

Many thanks.

Power failures affect electric vehicles such as trains and trams. Buses suffer engine failures or "breakdowns".

Electrical power for the aircon is provided by an engine driven generator but its failure would not stop the bus moving.
