What is considered to be an entity with a soul?

Why is my thread filled with mindless banter? i've been gone for a while and being a career woman is hard! But I didn't think this topic was that hard to answer with such strings of "deep" talk! Laughing

Any entity with the ability to love has a soul. This includes higher animals.

Plants too. Just because we don't observe them making love doesn't mean they don't.

I changed my mind. I think anything that expresses its self
has soul. Soul, baby, yeah, it's got soul.

Even if it expresses itself only to itself.
Expression has nothing to do with who's listening.
Everything sings. Everything has rhythm, movement, and melody.
Everything has soul. Seriously.

Interesing, CodeBorg. "Everything has soul" has the markings of a modern-day animist. I tend to agree from an ineffable very private perspective.
You also seem to be addressing an important aspect of aabstract art, especially the non-objective form: "Even if it expresses itself only to itself." Remember the phrase, "Art for art's sake"?

Life is Art. Art is Life.

Each moment is your own creation
for you to celebrate, mourn, ignore or play with.
Only you can take charge of it and appreciate
the depth of your own moment.

If you live. If anything has a soul
it has experience of what it's like to be,
even if no one is watching.

What does a plant experience, express, and love?
What does a single molecule, when it decides to flip
positive instead of negative, in the quantum randomness
of its own moment?

We can't judge it if we weren't there,
but we can wonder.

How can life be an odd bean bag
if it doesn't amount to even a can of beans?

Pondering... wracking my bean... counting...
Nope, even a beanie baby doesn't have Life in the bag
unless it beans itself on the head with a filet of Soul.

I do so count!
one, two, three, four (its starting to get harder), five, sex, oops that's "I"Cool , seven, ................................................eight, mine (er 'n'),
ten!
there
now there's one little problem with filet of soul; a sole it flat, and swims on the bottom (known as a bottom feeder, most are human, but this one's a fish)
and, speaking of fishy, it has two eyes originally; but the one on the bottom only sees muck on the bottom, so it migrates as the fish matures to the other side (top side) of the head; so now it can see with both eyes, even though all it can see is other bottom feeders (kind of like sitting in a bar in Brooklyn).
and why did i bring this up?
it's just additional evidence that i can count - to two!

Has your mind ever got extremely large, then collapsed?

It's hard to rebuild.
