What is considered to be an entity with a soul? My personal view is an entity with a soul has the ability to create and acknowledge what is beautiful. What is your point of view?

Personally, the concept of defining a soul is a difficult one. I think your opinion may be part of a 'soul', as it were, but the soul, by definition is sort of a Christian concept. Many other religions define it differently, i.e. karma, life-force, etc. It seems undeniable that there is an interconnectedness between all living things, but how you define it is entirely up to you.

be careful with u're soul Red, don't wear it out;
there are not too many coblers around who can repair a dammaged life.

seriously (who me?) i would not refer 2 a soul being less than cozy with diety concepts, but i do of course know what u mean, and i agree with cav, that it is a very personal thing.

i prefer 2 think of 1's soul as the connection 2 the matrix of humanity which we all share, and if we can impart pleasure 2 another, these connections grow stronger as do all the others connected 2 us!
pleasure is infectious. Laughing

Any entity with the ability to love has a soul. This includes higher animals.

It also includes lower animals and (real soon now) computers.

Plants too. Just because we don't observe them making love doesn't mean they don't. Our blindness or inability to understand something doesn't prove that it doesn't exist.
Our wanting to be superior (at a "higher level") doesn't mean that we are.

What would you class a higher being with the ability to love as. Except for humans.

My dogs, Jack and Jill, have exhibited intellect, reasoning, love and a command of the English language. (Understanding, not talking--though I'm certain that will be next). They must have souls.

My dog, Ranger, is stupid, and therefore must have missed soul installation. However, he does gaze heavenward with his head oddly tilted to one side... Maybe he is an alien.

Nothing has 'a' soul, 'life' is 'the' soul.

truth
I don't believe in souls, but I'm willing to use the term as a verb: when we love and when we experience beauty, we may be soul-ing.

Bottom line, and jokes aside, it comes down to what each individual believes in.

Faith. No one can prove it. But you'd be hard up to disprove it, too.

Why the question, Redhorn?
