Is 'it' needed?

1.Communication between everyone was in English, it being widely recognised and easy to converse in.

2.It being widely recognised and easy to converse in, English was the main tool of communication.

Are the sentences correct? Is 'it' needed in either sentence.

"It" is neither required nor desirable in either sentence.

"Since it is" seems to work better than "it being" in both cases.

1.Communication between everyone was in English, since it is widely recognized and easy to converse in.

2. Since it is widely recognized and easy to converse in, English was the main tool of communication.
