The plane crashed, killing all 200 people aboard.
The plane crashed killing all 200 people aboard.

Is there any difference between these two sentences? What difference does the comma make?

Many thanks.

Use a comma to set off introductory elements, ie. the plane crashing is one, and the people dying is another.

I would use the comma.

Here are some examples.

If she helps me, we will finish the work sooner.

When the snow stops falling, we'll shovel the driveway.

In addition, walking is a great way to improve posture.

Having finished the test early, he left the room.

To get a seat, come early.

After the test, I went jogging.
