Maybe you're struggling because John Poulson (1910 - 1993) brought down Reginald Maudling, Tory Home Secretary from 1970 to 1972, which was decidedly NOT the 1960s. (I know. I was there.) Maudling was a Tory politician during the 1950s and 60s, sure, but he was not Home Secretary during the 60s as stated.

So perhaps the author of the question was a bit sloppy about facts. If so, I'd worry about the others a bit, myself.

I know young people think everything before about 2000 doesn't really matter, but there are some of us who remember.

Good Morning contrex, many thanks for your reply. I too remember Poulson and Maudling but again put them aside because of the dates. Will keep looking and if I can't find someone else, I'll go with those two. Appreciated.

Check out the Home Secs of the 60s...

Rab Butler (14 January 1957 - 13 July 1962)

Henry Brooke (13 July 1962 - 16 October 1964)

Sir Frank Soskice (18 October 1964 - 23 December 1965)

Roy Jenkins (23 December 1965 - 30 November 1967)

James Callaghan (30 November 1967 - 19 June 1970)

1st two were Conservatives, last three were Labour.

I think you'll find that none of them was brought down by a bent tycoon who died in 1993, as Maudling was.

I'm inclined to agree with you contrex, I'm sure the compiler has got his dates wrong. Also, John Poulson died on 31st January - not in February as the question says. Anyway, I'm going with John Poulson. Many thanks for your interest.
