Could you please explain why it should be 'does' when 'rarely' is in the sentence?

For the second sentence, the verb should be 'doesn't'. Am I right?

rarely and seldom are synonyms...


"doesn't" would be used like this:

Jessica always does her homework, doesn't she?

Then it should be Jessica seldom does her homework, does she? Is that what you mean? My apologies for asking you again.

correct. Basically, "doesn't she" is "does she not" used when the statement is affirmative but looking for confirmation/emphasis.

She always drives that way, doesn't she?

She doesn't always drive that way, does she?
