1. They are flying kites on /during a hot / windy day.

I think it should be They are flying kites on a hot windy day.

(b) On the road back home, he saw the boys running on a track on a hot day.

It should be One hot day, on the way back home, he saw the boys running on a track.

Am I correct in both cases?
