hi CI...good to c'ya.

I had a hell of a drive home tonight - a 1.5-hr-drive instead of the typical 20 mins., but at least it was a safe drive.

Three hours of fun and frolic to go 18 miles.
But it was worth it just for the entertainment.

Charlottesville is scheduled to get a mix of snow and sleet starting in the early part of Saturday and running through Sunday. No accumulation (1") but folks here do not know how to drive. Fortunately. UVA exams end today so 16,000 students will be gone by tomorrow.
My van handles terribly in the snow so we put 500 pounds of firing clay over the rear axle every winter. Helps a lot.
I went by Kroger for a couple of needs. But folks here, at the first mention of snow, descend on the grocery stores like locusts. I didn't go in.

I checked the weather forecasts for some of Sunday's games. Snow in Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Rain in Boston but a temperature of only 33, so that could change. Interesting to note that the wind at kickorff could be 17 mph from the ENE but switching to 17 mph from the NNW by around 3.
This could complicate things for Tom Brady and those hoping for a big NE passing game.

Since the wind "handicap" will affect both teams, it's a draw, but Brady gets my $$$.

True enough, CI, and I don't know enough about the Patriots or the Jets (or anyone else in the NFL for that matter) to say. But it seems to me that in really nasty weather like we might see a team that relies heavily on its passing game will be more severly affected than a team that relies on running the ball. NE is good (ok, dammit, great) and the Jets stink but the weather, wind and snow/sleet, could neutralize Brady a bit.

I have experience walking in snow over knee deep, and it's something I will not even attempt at my present age!

Reminds me of a story my parents told about living in Milwaukee right about the time they got married (1941). They ended up trying to walk a couple ofl miles in severe cold and snow. And windy.
They found themselves getting extremely sleepy and somewhat disoriented. They wanted to sit down and rest under an awning or something. This guy came out of a tavern. He was a big guy and a bit drunk, walking in the same direction. He held them up by their collars and marched them to their apartment.
