correct verb

In 2005, my youngest daughter entered Grade 1.

I know the word 'entered' is wrong, but I can't think of what word to replace it. What I mean is that she went to a school and was in her first year there.

Many thanks.

"Entered" is correct.

Most native speakers would say "entered first grade".
